A cute storyline, but not remarkably memorable. There were a few good laughs, like when Neelix was in the middle of a good part in his story and he interrupts himself by offering snacks to the children. I also liked when the little Borg girl asked incredulously if the captain had served Neelix nebular gas for his birthday dinner.
There was one thing I was wondering about, and that is: Where was Naomi when this whole thing was happening? I guess Scarlett Pomers wasn't available for a guest spot. I just thought they should have shown her sometime in the episode since the crew were so worried about the Borg children being scared, but they didn't mention her fear.
I really liked how they showed the female crewman from "Good Shepherd" again. Usually we never see a character again if they are not one of the major nine. I felt that was a nice touch. When she confronted Harry Kim in the corridor, I found that she said something stupid. She thought that the power outage might have been due to an attack by the Borg or Hirogen but wasn't she on Voyager during at least a few attacks by them? Wouldn't she by now be familiar with the attack tactics of the crew's enemies? Why ask such a stupid question? Wouldn't there have been some type of weapons fire exchange that would have tipped her off?
Oh, and one last thing: on the UPN promo, the voice-over says, "For years it's been hiding on Deck 12..." In reality, the lifeform was only on board for a few months. Was that just to make it seem more scary? It really bugs me when the promos mess up like that (or they use clips that are out-of-context or aren't even in the episode).
Bottom Line: Didn't fall asleep; but didn't jump for joy either

I really liked the idea of a ghost story being told aboard Voyager (so much that it was an idea for a story of mine about 6 months ago!!!). The creepy music and dark atmospheres were really excellently done.
I have never seen a full shutdown of the ship’s power before, and I loved it. I liked how they took the time to show several different rooms powering down (Messhall, Sickbay, Astrometrics, Engineering, Bridge, Cargo Bay 2).
I am getting really tired of Tom mentioning things from the 19th and 20th centuries, like Edgar Allen Poe, and navigating with a compass and sextant (I guess that’s even earlier!). Come on, weren’t there any good writers after the 20th century? They’ve got a good 370 years to go on….
I liked the asteroid field that was seen outside Captain Janeway’s window. Neato!
Okay, Janeway having little talks with Voyager was stupid to me. Now don’t get me wrong, I’m all for talking to inanimate objects (I regularly chat with my car and my stuffed animals) but I couldn’t help thinking that the Captain’s going off the deep end again… It seems like every time it gets dark on the ship, she loses it. In “Night”, she started acting like a lunatic, and now she’s having more conversation with Voyager than she is with some members of her crew!!! The thing was that she’s never done it before…
When the young female Ensign (from “Good Shepard”) showed up, I was thrilled. Finally a reoccurring character! By the way, where the heck are the Equinox members, Vorrick, and the blasted Borg Baby (among others)?!! She was perfect with Seven and Harry, but it was kind of unbelievable of how she thought that Voyager was being boarded by aliens… Didn’t she go through Starfleet Academy and work on Voyager for 6 years? I know she’s only been on one away mission, but she went through the Kazon taking over the ship… she’s not that innocent. :)
#1 - Why was Seven’s hair mussed up after going to Astrometrics with Janeway? She looked untouched before that… #2 - How did Neelix get to Engineering so fast after Tuvok was “shocked”? The alien or gas (who knows what it was) was still in the Jeffries Tube and Tuvok had said that the detour would take 1 ½ hours… #3 - When the alien trapped Janeway between forcefields and gassed her, why couldn’t she have used the handy Oxygen Mask that was hanging around her neck to breathe with?? Just some observations….!
In the scene when there's some trouble in Sickbay and the Doctor fritzes out, Janeway tells someone (B'Elanna?) to download the Doctor's program into the holoemitter. No one moves an inch and then BOOM! the Doctor disappears. No one seems to care as they start evacuating Sickbay... What the... Let me tell you, if I were there, I would have rushed to help him!! Also, wouldn't he have been wearing it if the ship was having failures all over the place?? Dumb.
The end left me a little confused. Neelix made it seem like the story was fake (to the kids). Then he goes to the Bridge and asks the Captain how things are going. She says that they are just running a few tests. We see a view of the Nebula. Then Neelix says, “Well, I hope it lives happily ever after.” COME ON! I guess that means that the story was true, but who the heck knows. I was a little frustrated at the ambiguity. Couldn’t they have shown a shot of the alien waving goodbye?? (thanks Michelle!)
All in all, even though there were some unbelievable, silly things going on, I still like the story very much. Call me a child at heart but I liked being told a story by Neelix!
