all his life, it wasn't until he was fifteen that he found Bluegrass. Inspired by this hard-driving music, he studied recordings of the legendary Osborne Brothers, Flatt & Scruggs, Stanley Brothers, Joe Val and Jimmy Martin. Chris started playing banjo professionally at the age of seventeen and lent his support to a dozen or more bands until he formed Tumbleweed. Re-inspired by the talents of sisters Trisha and Cathy-Anne, Chris found the vehicle to express some long overdue sounds. He has been nominated six years in a row for the British Columbia Country Music Association's Instrumentalist Of The Year and is highly in demand as a session player. Chris' banjo virtuosity can also be heard on k.d. lang's dreamy soundtrack for the film "Even Cowgirls Get The Blues" |

Cathy-Anne,
born and raised in North Vancouver,
has
always had a wide range of musical taste including
everything
from country to alternative rock & roll and
classical
music. It was her older sister Trisha who
introduced
her to Bluegrass music when she was in
Senior
High School.
It
wasn't until she moved to Chilliwack in 1990
that
she began to sing with Trisha and Chris.
Cathy-Anne,
although young in age, has matured in music
at
a rapid pace. Spending a lot of her time composing original
vocal
material for the group, has become one of her
strongest
attributes. Her securely established vocal style
has
been featured on TV and radio as well as a soundtrack
for
the Universal Pictures movie "Leaving Normal". |

She was born and raised on the west coast of British Columbia. It has taken some time for Trisha to find Bluegrass, the music she loves to perform today. A unique voice, and her songwriting, combined with a solid approach on the acoustic bass, have caught the attention of both audience and musical peers alike. Being recognized as a professional musician (although relatively new to the professional scene) in the award winning Tumbleweed, is a dream come true for Trisha. |

Steve has established himself on the
international
scene since attending Berklee
College of Music in Boston by touring

in Canada, the US and Europe.
His reputation as a slide guitarist, both
bottleneck and lap-style has earned him

soundtracks, film and concert appearances
with
Linda McRae, John Bottomley,
Bocephus King, and Tumbleweed. While
his love for traditional countryblues,
Hawaiian, ragtime and bluegrass is evident,
his own pieces
are far from derivative. |
