Here's a pic of my sub box in the back of my trunk.
I'll try to get a better pic of it posted soon.
This was my second project for senior wood at B.C.I.T. The challenge was to build a lighting device. I really wanted to build a sub box for my car so I had to incorporate a light into it some how. You can see that I've got a window in my box, made out of 1/2" thick acrylic. What I did was insert a neon tube below the acrylic and milled out the San Francisco 49ers symbol on the front. Now when the light is turned on, the whole symbol lights up. It's quite impressive. The box is made out of 3/4" MDF and houses two 10" Rockford Fosgate subwoofers. The planning and desing stage was extremely long and exhausting. I spent many hours playing with numbers and dimensions so that I could have the box be the right volume in both front and rear chambers. Building the box was also a lot of hard work. Many problems arose and the box needed constant adjustments. People were bugging me that it was just a box and that it couldn't be so hard to build. Well I invite them to try to build a box to exacting standards with many intricate angles and complex features. It hasn't been running lately because the bass is trying to push the acrylic right out, so I have to fix it in there permanently some how. There just hasn't been time. What's new?! Also, someone tried breaking into my trunk, so I may remove it because I worked so hard on it, I don't want to lose it to some punk.
