Coin/Money Tricks

This is a trick that can be done easily at the dinner table or at a show. It is called balancing a coin on a blade. You will need a table knife. Ask for a coin like a dollar or something like that. Unknown to the audience you have another coin the same coated with shoemakers wax or candle wax on one side. As you receive the coin make a big show of getting the sword or knife. while doing so press the two coins together firmly. no one will notice that you have two coins stuck together. with a great show of taking care and the infinite amount of stillness you would need to balance a coin on a blade. hold the blade horizontally sharp edge uppermost set the coin done on the blade so that the blade fits between the coins and holds there. Now with a might wave of your free hand you can prove that you can do this trick. I like to make the coin run up and down the blade but this does not always work and can make the trick fail so practice before you show it to anyone. and there it is the coin on the blade

Effect

A bill is taken from your wallet, the bill is rolled into a tube shape, you reach into the rolled tube with fore finger and thumb and produce a small silk handkerchief, the bill is unrolled to show empty, then again rolled into a tube, the silk is pushed into the bill tube, once again the bill is unrolled to show empty, the hanky has vanished.

Props

A Thumb Tip. A small silk (9") that will fit into the thumb tip easily, and a dollar bill.

Secret

Load silk into thumb tip, when ready to perform push thumb into the thumb tip, take out wallet and remove the bill, show the bill, keeping thumb with tip behind the bill, roll the bill into a tube and around thumb tip, leaving the thumb tip in rolled bill, reach in, slowly pull silk from tube, display, push the silk back into tube and into tip, push thumb into tip, steal tip from bill, unroll the bill revealing the silk has vanished, return the bill to the wallet and put into pocket ditching thumb tip.

Effect

A borrowed, marked coin vanishes. A volunteer hands you a biscuit, and you eat up to halfway. The coin is seen in the middle of the biscuit. As the dealer ads. would say- no duplicates, no fakes, no stooges, no specially prepared biscuits -NO PROBLEMS!!

Secret

Borrow a coin from a member of the audience and get it marked. Vanish the coin in any way you like- I personally like the Bobo Vanish. Retain the coin in your right hand as you show the left empty. If you have the skills, show both hands empty. (I have customized a changeover palm to work with nearly any object, so try one for yourself!!) With the coin in your right hand, ask the volunteer to give you a biscuit. Take this with the left hand. Whilst doing this, get the coin in the upper front finger clip. Pass the biscuit over into your right hand resting the biscuit on the coin. Take the biscuit again with your left hand and press the coin flat against the back of the biscuit. Take a bite out of the biscuit, and push the coin up the back until it just sticks out the top. The owner will notice it, and you pull it out and hand it back, then eat the rest of the biscuit for good measure. Alternatively, I sometimes "eat" the coin with the biscuit, and remove the coin, saying that a filling has come out, and show the coin!!

EFFECT: A quarter is borrowed and marked for future identification. The coin is then placed under a handkerchief and given to one spectator to hold. Another spectator is holding a Brandy glass with a ball of yarn stuffed inside. You move toward the spectator holding the handkerchief with the marked coin, away from the spectator holding the glass & yarn. You ask spectator 1, "Are you still holding the quarter". They reply "Yes". At that moment you are nowhere near the brandy glass as you "snap" the handkerchief from the spectators hand. The quarter has vanished. Another spectator is asked to start unraveling the yarn inside the glass. (It will take about a minute or so). Inside the yarn is a matchbox, tightly wrapped with four rubber bands. When the rubber bands are removed and the matchbox is opened, the original marked quarter is found inside.

PREPARATION: First you will need to view how to construct a coin slide & prepare a handkerchief. Assuming you now have your coin slide ready, take a standard matchbox and open it just enough for the coin slide to fit inside. Only the tip of the slide should be inside the matchbox. To hold the slide in place, wrap two rubber bands around the outside of the matchbox lengthwise, the rubber bands close the matchbox against the slide, thus holding it in place. Take two more rubber bands and wrap them over the first set of rubber bands widthwise (as shown in fig. 1). This is a trick that can be done easily at the dinner table or at a show. Preparing the Yarn: Now you must start wrapping the yarn around the prepared "slide & box". When you do this, be sure to wrap the yarn in a way that when your finished, you end up with a "ball" shape, not an "oval" shape. When finished, it should look like (fig. 2).

WORKING:

By now you should have already learned to prepare the Handkerchief, Coin Slide, Yarn & Matchbox. If not, please refer to the first sentence in preparation and follow the links for both the coin slide and handkerchief.

Ask for three volunteers and borrow a quarter from a spectator. Ask someone to mark the quarter so they can identify it later. After it is marked and passed for everyone to examine, you place it under the prepared handkerchief and give it to the first volunteer to hold. But really, you take back in your hand the marked quarter and give the volunteer the secret quarter sewn inside the handkerchief. Now comes the tricky part. You should have your prepared yarn and slide out of sight and the slide should be secured. While reaching for the yarn, place the marked quarter on the slide which goes through the yarn inside the matchbox. When you pull the ball of yarn off the slide, the rubber bands close the matchbox with the marked quarter inside. The faster you transfer the quarter to the slide and retrieve the yarn, the better the effect. While you are bringing out the ball of yarn, with your other hand, grab the brandy glass and bring them both out together.

Give the brandy glass to a second volunteer and put the ball of yarn inside. Ask the third volunteer to hold the loose end of the yarn and start unraveling it as soon as you tell them to. Walk over to the volunteer holding the quarter under the handkerchief. With one hand, grab a corner of the handkerchief and "snap" it out of the volunteers hand. Show both sides to the audience and give the command to start unraveling the yarn. Now is the time to put the prepared handkerchief away.

Trick Name: coin through table

TRICK EFFECT & ROUTINE:A coin magically passes through table

METHOD:While sitting at a table, show a coin. Place your left hand under the table as you say you are going to make the coin go through the table. Make sure the upper part of your left arm is pressed against the table edge. Hold the coin in your right hand, flat between your thumb and other four fingers, concealing the coin behind the fingers. Tap the coin against the table a couple of times and then slap it flat. Slide the coin to the edge of the table to pick the coin up as you say "I haven't done this for awhile" or something to that effect. Tap the coin again and slap it flat with a look of embarrasment. Again slide the coin to the edge of the table to pick it up. This time, however, pivot your left arm to the edge of the table as you let the coin drop into your hand. Continue forward with your right hand as if it still held the coin. Pivot your left arm back to the middle of the table. One last time, tap your fingers of your right hand against the table, at the same time tapping the coin from underneath the table. Slap your right hand flat at the same time your left hand slaps the coin flat from underneath. Pull your left arm, don't pivot, from underneath the center of the table to reveal the coin laying in your palm.

COMMENTS:There is alot of explanation for a quick and easy to learn trick. I get a pretty good reaction from this trick. Just make sure your left arm is tight to the table so they don't see it pivoting.
