On July 8, 1995 Mike Peca was acquired by the Buffalo Sabres along with Mike Wilson and a first round pick (Jay McKee) for Alexander Mogilny and a fifth round pick (Todd Norman). Peca went on to win the Selke award for best defensive forward in the league. He has since lead the Sabres as captain of the squad, and ever since he was captain they made the playoffs. Peca is a go-to guy on the Sabres. Peca is most well known for his bone crunching hits, which made him the player he is now. When Peca makes a hit, he makes no mistakes. He is the best small hitter in the league and has been for a couple years. Although his earning of the "C" made him tone down his act, he can still wreck anyone.
In Mike's pre-NHL years he played for Sandbury and Ottawa of the OHL. He also played for Hamilton and Rochester of the AHL.
