For those who have
been following the Signature Pharmacy Internet drug scandal, you have read that
Dave Batista was listed as a client who purchased drugs. Batista has denied any such wrongdoing and has posted that
denial on his website. We apologize
for having placed Batista’s name on this site as being a Signature client.
We see a recap of last
week. Batista loses to Rey Mysterio
by disqualification due to the interference of Finlay. Mysterio wins the match with Finlay with a pin.
Mysterio will meet the Great Khali for the Championship.
Announcers are Michael Cole
and John Bradshaw Layfield
Smackdown is being
broadcast from Cincinnati, Ohio.
We open with MVP in the
center of the ring for “In the VIP Lounge”.
MVP reminds us that he is the United States Champion, and one half of the
Tag Team Champions (the other half being Matt Hardy), that he is half man and
half amazing. The camera pans the belts. MVP
tells us that not only is he the host, he is also the guest, because the Tag
Team Champs are the guests tonight. Matt
Hardy comes down the ramp and to the ring. Matt gets a very loud welcome from
the crowd. MVP tells Hardy that he should get used to first class because he is
now with MVP. MVP tells Hardy that
he is now an eight-time tag team champion because MVP got him there and MVP
shows the clip of himself getting the pin during their match to win the tag team
titles. Hardy shows a clip of what happened after the match, which had not been
shown before. MVP is on his cell phone bragging to someone about how great he is
when Hardy interrupts him. As MVP is bragging to Hardy about how great he is,
Hardy lays him out with a fist. Hardy
suggests MVP’s catch phrase should be changed from “Better than you” to
“Better than who”. Hardy tells
MVP that he wants a Championship match at Unforgiven. MVP calls for a referee to come to the ring. MVP tells Hardy
that they are defending the tag team titles at Unforgiven with Deuce and Domino
so he can’t give him a Championship match at Unforgiven. MVP tells Hardy he has a match scheduled for Hardy tonight
with Deuce.
Deuce,
one half of the tag team Deuce & Domino
accompanied
by Domino & Cherry
Vs.
Matt
Hardy, one half of the Tag Team Champions, Matt Hardy & MVP
accompanied
by MVP
Audience Favorite:
Matt Hardy
Winner:
Matt Hardy with a pin after interference by Domino for Deuce and
interference by MVP for Hardy.
MVP gets in the ring to
raise Hardy’s hand but Hardy isn’t impressed.
Matt Hardy is not only an
audience favorite, he is a marvel in the ring.
This match was not one of his best.
MVP appears to be in the same class as Hardy and they will be impressive
as a tag team if they work together. I
have not seen enough of Deuce and Domino actually wrestling to know how great
they will be in the ring.
We get a promo of Ashley
and her role on “Survivor” which is on location in China.
We are backstage with Jamie
Noble and Shannon Moore. Noble is
setting a Leprechaun trap with Lucky Charms to trap Hornswoggle. Moore thinks
it’s the funniest thing he has ever seen and he wants to see what happens.
Moore and Noble go around the corner to wait for Hornswoggle.
We see a recap of the match
between Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio on July 25, 2002.
Mysterio beats Guerrero with the 619. Tonight there will be an I Quit
Match between Mysterio and Guerrero.
We see a clip of injuries
being sustained by WWE wresters that culminates in the screen showing: WWE
Please DO Not Try This At Home.
Kenny
Dykstra, weighing 235 lbs., from Worcester, MA
accompanied
by Victoria
Vs.
Chuck
Palumbo, weighing 280 lbs., from San Diego, CA
accompanied
by Michelle McCool
Audience Favorite:
Chuck Palumbo, Michelle McCool and Chuck’s motorcycle
Winner:
Chuck Palumbo pinning Kenny Dykstra inside the ring, Michelle McCool
slamming Victoria on the entrance ramp outside of the ring.
Chuck Palumbo shows more
brute force in the ring than wrestling maneuvers but he gets your attention.
Kenny Dykstra has the makings of a great wrestler and it will be a shame if he
does not get a chance to use his wrestling moves more often in the ring.
We are shown an invitation
to the wedding of Kristal Marshall & Theodore Rufus Long to be held in two
weeks on Smackdown.
We are backstage with
Kristal and Vicky Guerrero. Teddy
Long enters the office and gives Kristal the new Jagged Edge CD.
Teddy tells Kristal Jagged Edge will be playing at their wedding.
Kristal’s Mom calls her on the phone and Teddy says that Kristal’s
Mom calls her every day all day long. Vicky
says that Teddy should give a copy of the CD to Mr. McMahon because it is called
Baby Makin’ Project.
We see a recap of a match
with Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio on July 23, 2006 where Chavo is supposed to
be Rey’s friend in a World Championship match against King Booker.
Chavo enters the ring with a steel chair and takes out Chavo.
We are again reminded there will be an I Quit Match tonight between
Mysterio and Guerrero.
We see a promo of the Divas
Magazine.
The Great Khali, weighing 420 lbs., from India
The World
Heavyweight Champion
&
Finlay,
weighing 233 lbs., from Belfast, Northern Ireland
Vs.
Kane,
weighing 323 lbs.
&
Batista,
weighing 290 lbs., from Washington, DC
Audience Favorites:
Kane and Batista
Winners:
Kane and Batista after both men send Khali over the top rope to the
floor, Kane pins Finlay for the win.
Kane and Batista are both
big men that move well in the ring in spite of their size.
Batista has the audience captivated but Kane deserves just as much
respect. I am not sure about Khali.
He is so much larger than anyone else in WWE.
It is like watching The Big Show or Andre the Giant.
That is not necessarily a bad thing but his wrestling moves are limited
due to his immense size. Finlay
appears to be the best technical wrestler of the four although he spends most of
his time trying to cheat his way to a win.
We are backstage again with
Noble and Moore waiting for Hornswoggle to go for the Lucky Charms.
He does, Noble tries to spring the trap, the rope breaks and Hornswoggle
gets away, but he leaves the Championship belt, which is attached to a rope.
Once Noble goes after the belt and is in the trap area, Hornswoggle springs the
trap and Noble is trapped inside the box instead.
The camera pans members of
the Cincinnati Bengals in the audience.
We see a recap of match
between Rey Mysterio and Chavo Guerrero on October 8, 2006. Falls count anywhere
and Mysterio wins the match. We are again reminded there is an I Quit Match
between the two tonight.
We are backstage with Jesse
and Festus and they come across Noble trapped in the big box.
They think it is a talking box named Jamie Noble. Jesse tells Festus with
a face like that it will be no time at all before they name a box after him.
WWE
Cruiserweight Title Match
Hornswoggle,
the Cruiserweight Champion
Vs.
Jamie
Noble, weighing 202 lbs., from Hanover, WV
Noble is introduced
several times and the referee starts the match and Noble has to the count of ten
to get in the ring before he is counted out. The referee starts the count and at
the count of nine, Noble is running down the ramp but the referee counts ten
before he can get in the ring. Hornswoggle wins the match as the result of a
count out and retains the Cruiserweight title.
While Noble is outside of
the ring having a tantrum, Hornswoggle dumps marbles on the mat and dares Noble
to come in the ring after him. Noble does, slips on the marbles and lands on his
back. Hornswoggle leaves the ring
and dances his way up the ramp.
You have to like
Hornswoggle. He’s funny and fast.
Jamie Noble has been extremely funny during this story line.
You almost feel sorry for him being beaten so many times by a Leprechaun.
Cole and JBL give us a
recap of Monday Night Raw and the McMahon family’s fight over McMahon’s
unknown son and McMahon’s money. We are told we will find out the identify of
McMahon’s son on next Monday Night’s Raw.
Please, please, tell us who
it is so we can get this storyline over with and go on to the next one. This
story line is nearly as bad as Vince faking his own death.
We see an Undertaker promo
for Unforgiven. Undertaker will be facing Mark Henry. The promo ends with a druid standing in the ring in
Cincinnati, OH. Mark Henry comes
down the ramp and enters the ring to face the druid. JBL claims no one has ever
put their hands on a druid. Henry
puts his hands around the druid’s neck and the lights go out.
When the lights come back on, Henry has the druid’s robe in his hand
and we hear the Undertaker’s bells ringing.
We see a recap of the I
Quit Match between Chavo Guerrero and Rey Mysterio on October 20, 2006.
Guerrero wins the match after Mysterio says “I Quit”.
Cole reminds us that a week
from Sunday is Unforgiven and we will see Undertaker vs. Mark Henry, Randy Orton
vs. John Cena – a Championship match, MVP & Matt Hardy vs. Deuce &
Domino – rematch for the Tag Team title match, Rey Mysterio vs. Khali – a
World Title match.
I Quit
Match
Chavo
Guerrero, weighing 215 lbs., from El Paso, TX
Vs.
Rey
Mysterio, weighing 170 lbs., from San Diego, CA
Audience Favorite:
Rey Mysterio
Winner:
Rey Mysterio by trapping Guerrero in the ropes and beating his knee
repeatedly with the steel chair until Guerrero says “I quit”.
Before Mysterio is
introduced and enters the ring, Guerrero carries a steel chair to the ring to
tell everyone that he is holding a piece of Mysterio’s past and it is a piece
of Mysterio’s future.
After the match is over,
Khali and his interpreter come down the ramp and enter the ring with Mysterio.
Khali takes Mysterio down with a boot and then works the crowd. Khali applies
his hands on Mysterio’s head and squeezes.
Mysterio bleeds from his mouth before Batista comes down the ramp and
goes after Khali. Batista uses the championship belt and a spear to get Khali
out of the ring, then checks on Mysterio.
Teddy Long catches up with
Khali and his interpreter backstage. Teddy tells Khali that if Mysterio can make
it to Unforgiven, it will be a triple threat match with Batista, Mysterio and
Khali.
Chavo Guerrero is the
only wrestler in the ring tonight who was on the Signature Pharmacy client list.
He lost the I Quit Match in order to serve his suspension for violation
of the wellness policy.
Both Guerrero and Mysterio
are great in the ring. The two of
them as a tag team would be fantastic. I
felt the blood shed at the end of the match was unnecessary.
We would have gotten the point without the blood.
It was in very poor taste after the findings released regarding Chris
Benoit.
One thing I noticed on Smackdown. It has much less talk and much more action than Raw. It would have been a much better show without the blood.
