- WWE exercised the definition of Damage Control during a live broadcast of its Smackdown television program last night.
- Rhea Ripley ( Demi Bennett ) handily defeated Liv Morgan ( Gionna Daddio ) in the opening contest of the program, presumably sticking to the script and further elevating her status as a heel. It should be noted that Morgan was allowed to showcase moves of her own, demonstrating that, on any given night, the outcome could have been different.
- The ensuing problem came after the match, when Ripley targeted a young female fan, obviously upset that Morgan had lost. Ripley taunted the young lady, making gestures which indicated a total disregard for her and her feelings.
- It should be noted here that the character of Bayley ( Pamela Rose Martinez ) has, as of late, exhibited the same type of behavior, tearing up young fans signs of support and mocking them.
- The Smackdown controversy continued when a video surfaced on the internet of the young fan in tears, along with Ripley's response.
- Wrestling Bodyslam joined in with the plethora of comments, questioning why WWE would book such a match, knowing that the audience would include persons of all ages, and allowing the talent to be so very disrespectful of the very people who provide their salaries.
- In a turnaround move, Damage Control, if you will, the tweets revealed Morgan at ringside consoling the fan, and backstage hugging her, and giving her words of encouragement, and an autograph.
- At the very least, this young lady was sent home with a lingering dream, not a nightmare.
