Happy New Year to all! January 11th was our first district competition held at Pitt Meadows Secondary, and we welcome Hatzic to Reach for the Top competition! Meadow Ridge was unable to attend this competition, so there was no opponent for MRSS's one Senior team. After the Juniors played, Ridge's Junior team played the Seniors, and won by a few points, extremely surprising the Seniors. It's always good to see new faces, and new schools are always welcome!
February 2000
On February 8th, we met as a district for our second-to-last tournament of the season. There were three Senior teams and several Junior teams at this meet, and Pitt Meadows, Maple Ridge, Hatzic, and Meadow Ridge Secondary Schools were all represented. There was intense competition in the Senior ranks, as the MRSS team lost one game against one of Meadow Ridge's teams by only two points. Our year-end competition will be held on February 29th at Maple Ridge Secondary, as we gear up for the Provincials!
March 2000
Our district tournaments have ended for the season, with the final Junior competition held at MRSS, and the final Senior competition held one day later at Meadowridge. The Junior teams have competed at the Provincials and Windermere School in Vancouver. Congratulations to all our teams! The Seniors are preparing for their first Provincials, held also at Windermere on April 14th. Good luck!
April 2000
Our Senior teams from Meadowridge and MRSS competed at St. George's at their first Senior Provincials, and did very well! Although many of the teams were composed mainly of grade 12's while our teams were mainly grade 11's, and many of the schools were private schools, Meadowridge came in 10th place, and MRSS came in fourth. We are looking forward to next year's season and Provincials, hoping to improve our standings! Thanks for an awesome year!
October 2000
We're back to school, and ready for Reach for the Top! We only have unofficial practices running for the moment, and our newest idea is having a class devoted to increasing speed and accuracy on Reach for the Top questions. It's been a lot of fun so far!
November 2000
Our junior team is flourishing and excited, with a bunch of new recruits ready to challenge the other schools. The seniors are preparing for the Provincials: analyzing buzzer techniques and the make-up of the question packs. We're looking forward to our first district tournament the beginning of December.
December 2000
The first district tournament was a lot of fun! We had MRSS's junior and senior teams there, Hatzic's junior team, and two senior teams from Pitt Meadows. Meadowridge was unable to make it, and the newest addition to our district, Westview also couldn't come. We're looking forward to facing off against them in our January tournament, though!
