The audio requirement is "Consumer" line level, meaning most common home audio components will drive it with enough volume. This would include stereo system components, such as tape decks and CD players and portable tape & disc players that use headphones. Boomboxes can be used by plugging into the headphone jack, giving a convenient method of adjusting the sound level to the transmitter.

Connections to high wattage home stereo equipment are not recommended, nor is trying to drive the transmitter with the speaker output from a car audio system. Most car radio speaker outputs use a "balanced" system, while the Grenade is designed for an unbalanced system.
