-recently, a study was performed by Dr. Lois Green, funded by Ontario Hydro Services Co. and the Canadian Electrical Association, done at the University of Toronto.
-this test measured magnetic field levels through the use of a monitor that children carried with them.
-the test was performed on 201 children with leukemia and 406 children without the cancer, measuring levels in and out of the home.
-also looked at the amount of power the family used, medical history of each child, and the level of magnetic fields in previous homes.
-results:the children who had the highest exposure to EMF's were four times more likely to develop leukemia
-another test, by Mary McBride, included 21 children studied who lived near power lines.
-of these children, 14 had leukemia
-children who lived in houses with poor wiring conditions were also at a higher risk.
-Green, on the other hand, says, "We shouldn't be gambling...Even if you can't prove (the risks of EMF's), do we need to take the risk? What's the point of carrying on the way we've been?"
-which stand point do you take?
Do you have any solutions to this problem? Post them in my guestbook! I will forward them to the power companies.
