EnriqueH's Predictions

Paul Spadafora vs. Angel Manfredy

Spadafora has yet to impress me. He's got heart, no punch, and has had many, many close decision wins with lesser opposition.

Manfredy is battle-hardened, has been in with the best, beaten some of them, and I think this will be his moment if all those battles haven't worn him out.

Spadafora's best bet here is to make the most out of his southpaw stance, a stance that frustrated Manfredy against Stevie Johnston.

Manfredy by late rounds KO or decision.

Michael Moorer vs Robert Davis

Interesting heavyweight bout because neither guy has a great chin. However, it seems to this writer that Davis's chin is much more brittle. On the other hand, Moorer is older, has had numerous wars, and has had a long layoff between his valiant, but disastrous defeat to Evander Holyfield in 1997 and his recent come back. Whether his skills are up to par remains to be seen and that makes this a must-see fight for boxing fans. All things being equal, Moorer should be able to win. Davis is the fresher fighter, but I don't think it will make much of a difference. Moorer by late rounds stoppage.

Marco Antonio Barrera vs. Erik Morales II

Barrera won their first fight on my scorecard, and I expect Barrera to be able to win much more definitively in the rematch. Barrera by late stoppage or points.

Paulie Ayala vs. Clarence "Bones" Adams

I like Ayala. He's skilled, resilient and trains hard. I like Adams here in what probably will be a close fight. It's just that while Ayala is entertaining and committed to his sport, he's had too many really close fights with lesser opposition. Adams is a step above guys like Jimmy Bredhal. Adams by decision.

Lennox Lewis vs. Mike Tyson

Whether this will happen or not remains to be seen, but like most people, I'm intrigued by this fight.

We all know Lewis has a questionable chin and we all know that the possibility is always there that Tyson will lose it and disqualify himself. Some people think that Tyson is shot, but I don't believe that to be the case. While it's true that Tyson is not the Tyson of old, he still seems to have the skills to compete and he obviously has the punching power.

Lewis is about the same age as Tyson, but he hasn't had the layoffs Tyson has had. Lewis is also much more intelligent and has a cooler head. The likely scenarios here are pretty clear: 1) Lewis will win in the later rounds, or 2) Tyson will catch Lewis early and win by KO.

Lewis is a smart fighter. People point to the Oliver McCall and Hasim Rahman KO defeats, but Lewis will be prepared for this fight. McCall and Rahman were contenders that weren't supposed to beat Lewis and they happened to catch Lewis off guard. So while, yes, it is possible and not very unlikely that Tyson COULD win early, I think Lewis will be prepared and knows what to look out for.

Lewis via late rounds stoppage.
