The Sith

The Sith are a mysterious race of sentients who came from obscurity to masters and commanders of the dark side of the force. The Sith and the dark side are often called the same thing, but they were not always so. The sith were a wise race, even before dark Jedi corrupted them.

The ancient teachings of the Sith which were written before the dark Jedi came to the Sith and corrupted their beliefs. They speak of sorcery, but not necessarily of an evil nature. The had knowledge of the force, and it is unclear what they intended with it at first. However, sith writings later turned to pure evil and hatred and anger. It is unknown if it was truly good before the dark Jedi came to them, but it is unlikely that a good race could be turned to evil so quickly and so easily. So were the Sith corrupt before, or were the earlier writings a more simple form from an earlier dark side before it turned to the true dark nature? Were the Sith beliefs and the dark side beliefs one and the same, but the dark side a more pure example?

Many questions are raised, as much Sith writing has disappeared. Either destroyed by the dark Jedi so nobody may find out its secrets, or hidden by the dark Jedi for their reading only. To find the answers, you could go back to the roots of the Sith. Before the Dark Sith Lord Naga Sadow, when the Sith lived in tribes and rarely interacted with other tribes. Even then, sorcery existed among them as each tribe had a 'wizard'. Perhaps these wizards somehow discovered the dark side? Or the light side? For it to be the dark side, the tribal rituals would have to be of an evil nature. If it wasn't, the Sith must have used the light side to begin with.

If they were, they must've headed in the opposite direction to the Jedi, as when the Dark Jedi Naga Sadow discovered the sith, they were definately using the dark side, and progressing with it. If it was heading towards the progression of the Jedi originally, what made it alter course? Naga Sadow was a Jedi who fell to the dark side. Sadow discovered the Sith shortly after he became a dark Jedi, and was the first the find a connection between the dark side and the sith magic. He learned a power greater than the Sith magic, and greater than the Dark side. He used this to conquer both.

He turned the Sith into the servants of the dark side. The Sith, no longer recognised as a single race, turned to completely to the dark side, and thus, the difference between the dark side and the sith became so small, it was forgotten. And so, when Jedi are taught to beware the dark side, they are taught to beware the Sith, and they become one and the same thing to them.

Heirachy of the Sith

The current High Lord of the Sith is Bolmor Narie, a powerful Dark Side user. He prefers to be addressed as 'Emperor'. He rules his Sith Empire from a massive underground palace on the remote Yavin IV, and also from a secret location somewhere on Coruscant. He switches between the two locations frequently, and the Jedi Council can't understand how he smuggles himself into the well-guarded Coruscant, but he does somehow. It is believed that he is the only Sith ever to practise Necromancy, raising the dead, but again this is only a rumour.

Although he is the ruler of the Empire, he doesn't fight in the battles or train the troops. He leaves that Job to his brother, and second-in command of the Sith Empire, Tyrannus. Tyrannus is probably the best lightsaber fighter in the galaxy, bettering even Plo Koon, the great saber fighter on the Jedi Council. Tyrannus has been known to be cornered by an army of battle droids, and fight his way out with only his lightsaber.
