Auctions! More goodies available! Fall newsletter. Archon weekend. SF Chronicle.
HWA and the Literacy Council Auction is under way at ebay! SIGNED LAURELL K. HAMILTON Promo Items RARE! Item # 1566080098
There is a mixed bag of things. Including a signed arc of Caress of Twilight and our special charity only mousepad. These are two great organizations.
Our own auctions for Granite City APA continue. We have a signed flat of Kiss of Shadows (UK edition) and some other goodies.
Our next auction is courtesy of one of Anita's fans. She sent the most adorable penguin backpack and gothic cross. She didn't say it was all right to list her name or I would. :) There will also be a book plate signed by Laurell to add to it. That will go up next week.
We have the stuff for Cafepress up at the website. http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/Goodies.html. If there is not something there you want, or you have an idea, please let us know. We are going to be adding as fast as we can get it done.
We have Doyle stuff availabe. Working on the rest of the Ravens still. There is also a cup and mousepad available from the fan club for Doyle and for Animator's Inc. Will have those links up Monday.
The Fall newsletter is finally complete! I have emailed it to the emailers, several of which have already bounced! The paper copies will go out Monday.
Archon is next weekend. Connie Willis is the GOH. Laurell will NOT be attending this year. She is taking a family trip that weekend. But we will be donating something to their to auction.
The Sci Fi Chronicle reported that all the Anita books will be reissued as hardbacks. I cannot confirm or deny that. We only got told that GP and Laughing Corspe would. So we are trying to confirm that.
Seems to be all I have to say! Thanks!

MORE LKH GOODNESS!
Hi all! Reminders, new t-shirt, Fall newsletter, HWA auction, Granite City APA and more on our auctions!
Guilty Pleasures hardback goes on sale next Tuesday. It includes an essay by Laurell on writing and publishing Anita. If you ever wondered how it all started, there's where to look. Also, Narcissus In Chains will be available as a paperback including the third chapter of Cerulean Sins. Sorry to our UK friends, their edition did not have it and we are seeing what we can do to get it out where you can see it.
We are going to reorder shirts on Oct. 15. So get your order in! You asked about different colors and possible sweatshirts, well here's your chance to order what you want. Check out the webpage listed below and see what you can get. We are going to offer a Guilty Pleasures Security Shirt. You can also order the blue eyed Tub Toy or Guilty Pleasures Staff in a variety of colors, short or long sleeved or sweatshirt. Please read the info at the top of the page before ordering.
http://www.laurellkhamilton.org/shirtposs/Shirtorder.html
The Fall newsletter should be going out next week sometime. Waiting on Laurell's bit and a piece from Rhett MacPhearson. Our favorite mystery writer.
Our auctions for Granite City APA continue! Rockinggramma bought the mug-up and the cover flat for a nice tidy sum of $182.50! Thanks so much! Our next item will be up shortly. A signed cover flat from A Kiss of Shadows paperback (The UK cover art) and some miscellaneous goodies left over from previous fan club offerings. Watch ebay for it on Monday.
We went out to Granite City the other day and took pictures of the dogs! Laurell is allergic to cats so we didn't get too close. But check out the Granite City APA listing on the Mainpage and the See our Auctions link. Get a look at the faces the money goes to help. Have you ever seen happier, healthier looking dogs? Notice all the toys in the pens and dog houses with mats? This is why we like them.
Also a reminder, The Horror Writers Association and Literacy Council have banned together to bring some excellent goodies from various authors and movies to auction to benefit both groups. It will run into October so check em out! Laurell and the fan club made a donation so look for ours too!
http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/shocklines/
That's it! No news yet on the Cerulean Sins arcs. I don't know when they are coming out or if the fan club will get any to distribute. Will let everyone know!

ANOTHER DARLA MESSAGE!!!!
Hi! Just a quick note to let everyone know what is occurring. Most of the info is also available at the fan club website: www.laurellkhamilton.org
We are continuing our quest to raise funds for Granite City APA and have a signed book flat for Killing Dance (a book flat is the cover of a paperback without the pages and with sales info printed on an extra flap). It is up at ebay. Below is the info to find it if you would like to bid.
Promo Book Flat Laurell K Hamilton Signed Item # 1537336269
I won't be sending out notices for each auction. We still have stuff to go yet. But the message board includes a section on the Auctions and you can check back weekly to see what is going up.
The paperback cover artwork for Narcissus In Chains (due out Oct.) is up at the fan club website for those who want to take a peek. It is a section of the artwork from the original cover art.
We also have Paty's artwork. I know a lot of folks have heard about the famous artwork Paty did which resulted in the bathtub scene with Anita and Jean-Claude. Well, now you can see it. It is under the vamp lips, look at the very bottom of the graveyard for a listing of Paty's Vision. And no, sorry, Laurell will not be auctioning those off. They are special to her and most are on the outside of envelopes or have letters to Laurell on the reverse side. Paty is a terrific artist!
Now, included at the bottom of the Bio section on Laurell is audio interviews Laurell has done. So you can hear Laurell herself and hear her reading some of the start of Caress in the Cityscape interview. If you ever wondered what she sounds like it is there.
We are also running a contest that will start June 1 and run through August 31st. Guess what CD Laurell was listening too when she wrote Caress and the winner will get a signed arc of the next book. Sorry, no hints. One entry and guess per person via snail mail to the fan club addy or by email to lkhclub@aol.com. If no one gets it, we will award the prize to one entry selected randomly from everyone who entered. The Fall Newsletter will announce what the CD was and the winners name if they consent to it. We are trying to get a couple again to send out randomly to fan club members again but so far I don't know if that will happen.
We are still trying to come up with a night shirt for Richard. If anyone has a suggestion they would like to send in please do. If we use it, the first one is yours as a reward. We will probably reissue new "Everything I need to know" shirts in July. If you want a specific size, let me know so I can order plenty. I will send out an announcement again when we get closer to ordering. It is also your chance to vote on shirt and lettering color, we did white with blue lettering and red with black lettering so those are out. Also we are hoping to get some feedback on offering some other items, if any of the ones listed below interest you please let us know:
A woman's T-shirt (you know the kind with a scoopy neck) with Guilty Pleasures Security on the front. A baseball cap with RPIT on the front.
And last but not least. Laurell read about 3 chapters of the next Anita book: Cerulean Sins (out February 6, 2003) at Name That Con. If anyone who attended would like to write up something for the next newsletter you can send it to us! But hurry, we need it by June 5. We have the first chapter up at the fan club website look under the vamp lips on the main page, then go to the second graveyard and look for the Cerulean Sins gravemarker and a series of spoilers for the second and third posted by folks who attended on the message board under Comments. Sorry, that is all we are allowed to post. Just that first chapter. Another chapter will appear in the paperback copy of NIC out this fall.
That's it for now! If you have comments or suggestions, well you know where we are!

Fans of Anita Blake, Vampire Hunter won't want to miss a chance to chat with her creator -- Laurell K. Hamilton on Thursday, October 11th at 8pm ET in the Writerspace Readers Chat Room. Then if your blood is still stirring *G* chat with bestselling Ivy authors -- Cherry Adair and Maggie Osborne at 9pm ET.
8pm ET http://www.writerspace.com/chat Laurell K. Hamilton chats about NARCISSUS IN CHAINS Six months have passed since Anita has seen either Jean-Claude or Richard. Six months of celibacy. Six months of indecision. Six months of danger. For her body carries the marks of both vampire and werewolf, and until the triumvirate is consummated, all three remain vulnerable. Nothing can save Anita from a twist of fate that draws her ever closer to the brink of humanity--to finally surrender to the bloodlust, the beast, and the desire transforming her body and consuming her soul!
New LKH news.
Hi! Hope things are going well wherever you are.
If you contacted one of the bookstores and was told Laurell would not be there. That was true. They did cancel all flying tours for everyone. However, Laurell didn't want to disappoint fans and wanted to do the tour. So, after some negotiating the tour is back on, just as planned. The stores should be notified shortly. If you need to check the schedule it is up at www.geocities.com/ddecember under the zebra eye on the main page.
We understand also, that the Halloween Special edition of Cinescape will appear on shelves Oct. 9. I have been told Blockbuster and most newsstands will be carrying it. So you might want to look.
The release for NIC is fast approaching. Reviews have been mixed. We know that as with every Anita book, some folks will love it and some will hate it, we don't seem to get many between. You can of course read the first chapter at the fan club website as well as the first chapter of Caress of Twilight, the new Merry book due out April 2002. For those wondering what the deeper meaning behind NIC is, the real question was "What is love?" This is Anita trying to figure out not only what is happening but also what is love. What does it mean to love another and be loved in return. This was also Laurell trying to simplify the romance angle and bring the books back around to Anita's working. So don't let the reviews scare you off. And reports of Richard's demise are not only premature, but plain wrong. Laurell is already working on the next Anita book and early indications are that we will see Olaf come to St. Louis. This should be fun. Will keep you updated on what is planned.
The St. Louis Post Dispatch will feature a review and interview with Laurell on Oct. 7 and Oct. 8. Look for that. Also, some of the UK mags and zines will be featuring interviews with Laurell. Will let you know the when and where when I do!
Laurell will not be attending Archon this year in St. Louis. It is just too close to the tour schedule and she is saving her arm for the multitude of signings coming up.
Think that is it for this update! If you have questions, email us we will try and respond quickly!

A word from Darla on recent events
This has been a tragic week for everyone. Some of us had it closer to home than others. Both literally and figuratively. We are trying to do our small part. So we are having another charity auction. Proceeds to go the American Red Cross to help the victims and their families, as well as the rescuers who do so much.
We have on ebay, magnets. Laurell commissioned sets for the intent purpose of offering them for charities. Now seems quite appropriate for that. Here is the listing #: 1465453612
We have gotten emails asking if the tour will be canceled or the release changed. As far as we know, the answer to both is no. We are proceeding as planned. If that changes in anyway, we will let you know.

New news
Ah, that sounded almost strange. :) Here is the tour schedule for this fall for the release of Narcissus In Chains below and the schedule for DragonCon for those planning to attend only one or two days so you can plan accordingly. Plans occasionally change at the last second. So please check with the store the day of and the con program for last minute changes.
As always, please feel free to bring a camera. Laurell doesn't mind, especially if you warn her first. Nothing like that unexpected flash in the eyes. Due to the large volume of books she currently has out, we are limiting folks to 3 signed books per trip through line. So if you have more, you will have to go to the end of the line and come through again. We want to insure everyone gets at least some of theirs signed.
We also wanted to let everyone know that the anthology: Out of this World will be out soonest! August 11th. A reminder, this contains the first 100 manuscript pages (works out to roughly 60 printed pages) from Narcissus. So if you know you cannot read just a bit without needing the whole, we warned you!
In September, drop into your favorite Waldenbooks store. They have put together a mini primer on Anita. It contains 3 single chapters from early books and an overview of the series. Great way to tempt friends and family without lending your books.
