Thin Line Between Love And Hate

Chapter 6

Hannah sat in the cafeteria waiting for Sonny at their usual table. She hadn't been able to stop thinking about the conversation she heard between Sonny and Carly the day before. She knew nothing could be going on between them but then what had they been talking about? Hannah looked up and smiled as Sonny sat down across from her.

"Hi Sonny, how are you doing?"

Sonny looked over at Hannah and answered her.

"Better then Jason,"

"Are you going to go visit him later?" Hannah asked her voice full of concern.

Sonny sighed.

"I don't know, I want to but the Quartermaines have built a fortress. I really don't feel like dealing with Edward."

Hannah looked down at her plate for a minute and then back to Sonny.

"How did Carly take the news about Jason? You were the one that told her right? Did she freak?"

"She didn't take it to bad, we went right to the hospital and after we got kicked out we went back to my place to wait for Alan to call." Sonny said nonchalantly.

"Well I was just worried, I know how you two fight. I thought that maybe something might have happened." Hannah said as innocently as she could.

Sonny looked at her strangely but then let it go. He and Carly were always fighting. That was no news flash.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Carly sat huddled on a chair in the back of the library. The last place any person would think to look for Carly Spencer. She kept thinking about the past two days, Jason in another accident that she was responsible for, Sonny finding out about her past. At least he didn't know all the details, he just knew that Lisa had been murdered, although it didn't take a genius to figure out that she had witnessed it. People had told her before how much she talked when she had nightmares. Probably to make up for the fact that she never talked about it when she was awake. She laughed to herself at how Bobbie had tried to be considerate after taking her home from Sonny's. She offered to talk but the damage had all ready been done. Bobbie's first reaction hadn't been about Carly it had been about Sonny. Besides it wasn't as if she and Bobbie were in the habit of having long mother daughter talks.

Carly glanced at the clock. School had been over for a while now and she still hadn't moved. Lucas was with Tony for the next few days so she didn't have to hurry home and wasn't about to. She wanted to go visit Jason but was in no mood for Monica to spit fire at her.

Hannah made her way to the back of the library, this project that she had to do for history was killing her. She stopped abruptly at seeing Carly curled in a little ball on one of the chairs. She looked like she was hiding from the world. Hannah immediately went over and sat down next to her.

Carly looked up when Hannah sat down. Great, just perfect. She should have known that Hannah would be spending time at the library a couple of weeks into the school year.

"Are you okay?" Hannah asked.

Carly snorted, she couldn't help it.

"Fine, just peachy keen."

Hannah looked at Carly and decided to try and get some answers.

"Sonny told me what happened the night of Jason's accident."

Carly's head shot up and she cursed under her breath. That idiot how could she have trusted him?

"Oh did he?" Carly asked in as calm of a voice as she could muster.

Hannah eyes lit up. Pay dirt, something was defiantly up, Carly was far too nervous.

"Yeah he said you guys went back to his place and that you were pretty upset."

Carly closed her eyes, all she needed was this perfect little angel knowing how messed up she was.

"Is that all he said?" Carly asked willing herself from bolting from the room to find Sonny Corinthos and throttle him.

"Pretty much, he said this and that but I wanted to tell you how sorry I am." Hannah treaded carefully.

Carly stared at Hannah.

"Sorry?" She whispered.

Hannah nodded.

"About Jason, I know that if it were Sonny in the hospital I would be losing my mind. Thank God I don't have to worry about that."

Carly stood up gathering her things.

"Well Hannah you never know what could happen, when a person as wonderful a personality as Sonny does it's only a matter of time before he pisses off the wrong person and winds up at GH. I'll see you around."

Carly made a beeline for the exit wanting to get as far away from Hannah's dose of sugary sweetness.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hannah walked into Luke's and sat down. Something was defiantly up with Carly, the way she had bolted from the library something had to be. Hannah looked up and noticed an older man come into Luke's. He had to be new in town, she’d never seen him before and he looked a little lost.

"Hi, can I help you?" Hannah asked the stranger.

The man looked at Hannah and smiled.

"That would be great. I'm Mike Corbin and you are?"

"Hannah Delucca. What can I help you with?"

Mike sat down beside Hannah and sighed.

"I'm looking for my son."

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Jason sat on his bed taking a breath before he stood up. He'd just finished putting his clothes on and that had taken a lot out of him. He looked up when the door burst open and he saw who it was.

Monica froze at seeing Jason up and dressed. He should be in bed, granted his test results had come back okay but he still needed bed rest.

"What do you think you're doing?" Monica asked in a somewhat shrill voice.

"Jason got up from the bed ignoring her.

"What does it look like I'm doing? I'm going home, my tests came back fine. I can heal at home better than here."

Monica watched as Jason grabbed his bag and made his way to the door.

"This is dangerous Jason, something could happen. You need to be here for observation."

But Jason wasn't listening he pushed past Monica and made his way out of the room. Bobbie was just about to come check on Jason and saw that he was leaving.

"What's going on Jason?"

Both Jason and Monica turned at Bobbie’s voice.

"I'm going home. Don't try and stop me, all I need is bed rest right?"

Monica and Bobbie exchanged glances.

"That's true." Bobbie finally answered.

Jason nodded.

"I can do that at home." He called out as he continued down the hallway.

Bobbie looked at Monica and sighed.

"I'll keep an eye on him okay?"

Monica nodded and went to try and find Alan.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Hannah sighed as she listened to the man in front of her. Mike Corbin was really Michael Corinthos senior. He hadn't been in town in years and when he'd heard that Sonny's mother had died he'd come straight to Port-Charles. But he was unable to find Sonny, Deke had told him that the kid had taken off right after his mother died, and hadn't been back since. Mike had only been looking for a day or two but was growing increasingly worried.

Hannah could see all this. It was plain to see that Mike really cared about Sonny. She knew how much Sonny claimed to hate his real father. That is the few times he'd opened up to her about it, but Sonny was all alone and if Mike could help who was she to stand in their way.

"I know your son." Hannah finally broke in.

Mike stopped mid sentence and looked at Hannah.

"You do?"

Hannah nodded.

"Actually he's my boyfriend, he works here at Luke's but he took today off. A friend of ours was in an accident."

"Really that's great! Not about your friend but about Sonny." Mike replied.

Hannah smiled.

"He's probably at home. He's usually there when he isn't working."

"And where would that be?" Mike asked apprehensively.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Sonny sat in his room trying to study, but the harder he tried the less it seemed to matter. He wasn't going to go to collage; he would probably wind up working at Luke's. Sonny sighed and headed to the kitchen. He needed a break. He got half way across the kitchen when he heard knocking on the door. He walked to the door opened it and stared at who was in front of him.

"Michael" Mike said smiling at his son.

Sonny on the other hand was not quite so happy to be reunited.

"What the hell are you doing here?"

Mike's face automatically took on one of concern and he walked into Sonny's apartment.

"I came as soon as I heard about your mother. I'm sorry."

Sonny stared at Mike in disbelief.

"You’re sorry?"

Mike sighed.

"Deke told me you took off after she died."

Anger flashed in Sonny's eyes.

"Oh did he? Just so I'm clear which part are you sorry about, abandoning my mother and me forcing her to marry that wife and child beater? Or maybe your sorry about how exactly my mother died? Deke didn't kill her but he might as well have. Or maybe you’re sorry that you didn't make it back in time for the funeral? That was an experience.

Mike stared in astonishment.

"Deke hit you and your mother?"

Sonny glared at the man in front of him.

"Like it would matter to you, as I recall you couldn't handle being a husband and a father so what does it matter that he put my mother in the hospital more times than I can count? Or that I was in there more often because I made him come after me so he'd leave her alone?

Mike looked like Sonny had hit him and both men became silent. Sonny felt eyes upon him and turned abruptly to the still open door. He froze when he saw his archenemy Carly Spencer looking at him with the worst expression imaginable. Compassion.

Thin Line Between Love And Hate

Chapter 7

Sonny stared at Carly feeling his anger rise even further. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Carly’s eyes flashed with anger but she also realized that Sonny was upset at what she had over heard. “The door was open.”

“That doesn’t mean you’re welcome here.” Sonny closed his eyes and tried to clear his head. He turned to Mike. “Get out.”

Mike looked crestfallen at his son. “Michael…”

Sonny groaned. “Don’t you get it? Get the hell out!”

Mike slowly turned around and walked past his son’s visitor, who seemed about as popular as he was.

Carly watched Sonny’s father leave, giving him a withering look. She stepped into the apartment and closed the door.

Sonny glared at Carly. “How much of that did you hear and what the hell are you still doing here?

Carly glared violently back at him. “I came to talk to you about your little girl friend and how big your mouth is.”

Sonny’s hateful look instantly changed to one of confusion. “What are you babbling about now?”

Carly rolled her eyes. “Don’t play innocent with me, it doesn’t suit you. You told Hannah what happened the night of Jason’s accident. I don’t know what made me think I could trust you.”

Sonny stared at Carly trying to figure out what the Hell she was talking about. “You’re paranoid.”

Carly laughed out loud. “She told me you told her what happened Sonny, and she just had to come running to me telling me how sorry she felt for me.”

Sonny’s eyes flicker with compassion at remembering what Carly had been through, but then he felt anger taking over again. “I didn’t tell her anything, you might want to ask me before you get all bent out of shape.”

“You didn’t tell her? Carly sneered.

“No” Sonny yelled, “I didn’t. Not everything is about you.”

Carly was a taken back, oddly enough she believed him. But still… “Then how the hell did she find out?”

Sonny felt like throttling her. She was so infuriating. “I don’t know, maybe a little birdie told her? All I know little girl is that you better start treating me a little nicer. You never know what might slip out.”

Sonny knew that was cold but he was in no mood for games and seeing his father hadn’t exactly put him in the best of moods.

Carly stared at Sonny enraged. She walked over to him and poked her finger at his chest. “You Mr. Holier then thou, had better not threaten me. The way I see it we’re even. You seem to have just as many secrets as I do. And we all know what a big mouth I have.”

Sonny’s temper flared he roughly took Carly by her arms. He had planned to yell at her but was stunned when he felt a flow of electricity at her touch. He looked from where his hands were to her face and saw she was just as surprised.

“What’s going on here?”

Carly and Sonny jumped apart when they heard Jason’s voice. Carly immediately went to him. “Jason, what are you doing here?”

Jason looked from Sonny to Carly, noticing the tension in the room. “My test results came back fine, I can rest up here better than at the hospital.”

Sonny took Jason’s bag from him. “You should have called man, I would have picked you up.”

Jason nodded. “Doesn’t really matter. What’s going on?”

Carly looked to Sonny and then away. “Nothing Sonny was just being his usual pig headed self. I am so glad you’re home.”

Carly leaned in giving Jason a passionate kiss. When she pulled away she couldn’t help but glance at Sonny. His face was stone, impossible to read. “I have to go, but I’ll call you.” Carly added seductively before flying out the door.

Jason turned to Sonny. “What were you two fighting about?

Sonny sighed. “I don’t know man, she showed up asking about you and then we just got into it. How are you feeling?”

Sonny quickly changed the subject; he had no idea why he’d just lied to Jason like that. Jason knew about both his and Carly’s past. Well he knew that they had pasts but not the details. But what had been even weirder was that shot of jealousy when Carly had kissed Jason. Where the hell had that come from?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*

Carly let herself in her bedroom and collapsed on her bed.

I'm only happy when it rains

I'm only happy when it's complicated

And though I know you can't appreciate it

I'm only happy when it rains

Why did she threaten Sonny like that? She hadn’t even heard that much of what he and Mike had said. Besides, no one would care about Sonny’s past. No one would probably care about her’s either. She just didn’t want people feeling sorry for her and it was none of their business.

You know I love it when the news is bad

And why it feels so good to feel so sad

I'm only happy when it rains

Carly clenched her fist at the thought of Hannah, Miss perfect teen, feeling sorry for her. Well maybe she didn’t a loving father and a rich glamorous mother who traveled the world. Maybe she didn’t get straight A’s and have everyone fawn all over her but there was no way Hannah was going to feel sorry for her.

Pour your misery down; pour your misery down on me

Pour your misery down; pour your misery down on me

I'm only happy when it rains

I feel good when things are going wrong

I only listen to the sad sad songs

I'm only happy when it rains

Carly’s thoughts turned to Jason. She told him she had to go. That hadn’t been really true. She had wanted to get out that room, the way Sonny had grabbed her… She knew she should be mad but she had felt something shoot through her and she had had to leave. If Jason hadn’t of walked in… No, that was insane. Sonny Corinthos was the most annoying man on the planet.

I only smile in the dark

My only comfort is the night gone black

I didn't accidentally tell you that I'm only happy when it rains

You'll get the message by the time I'm through

When I complain about me and you

I'm only happy when it rains

Besides she was with Jason. She had to be, she owed it to him and he was good to her. In his own way. Carly closed her eyes and felt tears fall down her cheeks at the thought of what could have happened to Jason, another accident, something else that was her fault.

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me

Pour your misery down, pour your misery down on me

Pour your misery down

You can keep me company as long as you don't care

I'm only happy when it rains

If it wasn’t for Carly Jason would still be planning to be a doctor; he’d still have a family. As dysfunctional as the Q’s were, they still loved Jason but he didn’t seem to care. Carly wished she didn’t care about her own family.

You wanna hear about my new obsession

I'm riding high upon a deep depression

I'm only happy when it rains

Pour some misery down on me

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Hannah knocked lightly on Sonny’s apartment door. The door opened after a minute and Hannah saw how shaken Sonny looked. “What’s wrong?”

Sonny grimaced; he did not want to deal with Hannah right now. Not when all this other crap was rolling around his brain. “Nothing, I’m just tired.”

Sonny let Hannah in and went back to the couch where he had been sitting. “Jason’s home, he’s asleep.”

“That’s great, so he’s going to be okay?” Hannah asked sitting down beside Sonny.

Sonny nodded. “Yeah, he just needs some rest.”

They both sat in silence for a few minutes until Sonny’s curiosity got the better of him. “Did you see Carly today?”

Hannah narrowed her eyes. “Yes, why?”

Sonny sighed, “She came over here saying you told her how sorry you were for her. What did you say?”

Hannah took a minute before answering. “I told her that you told me what had happened… the accident that is and I felt bad for her. Why?”

Sonny shook his head. Typical Carly going off half cocked, she completely over reacted Hannah didn’t know a thing. “No reason.”

Hannah sat back and took Sonny’s hand in her’s. “How did your visit with your father go?”

Sonny’s eyes turned cold and he pulled his hand away from her. “How did you know about that?”

Hannah was chilled to the bone at the coldness in Sonny’s voice. Damn! She hadn’t meant to say anything, it had just slipped out. “I… I ran into this guy at Luke’s we got to talking, He was looking for you.”

Sonny stared at Hannah. “So you just told him where to find me?”

Hannah grimaced at the sound of his voice, “I thought you should see him, he seemed really upset Sonny.”

Sonny stood up and began pacing the floor. “You thought? I know I’ve never gone into details about Mike but you knew that I never wanted to see him again!”

Sonny stopped pacing and stared at Hannah. This was a huge betrayal. The only person Sonny hated more on this earth more than Mike was Deke.

“He just heard your mother died. I felt sorry for him.” Hannah saw the look in Sonny’s eyes and knew what it meant. “Sonny don’t shut me out, I love you!”

Sonny turned away from her. “I think you should go.”

Hannah nodded, tears running down her cheeks. This hadn’t gone the way she’d planned at all, Sonny was supposed to be thanking he for reuniting him with his father. This was suppose to fix what ever had happened with Carly the night of Jason’s accident. Sonny was supposed to be looking at her like she was perfect, not the look of scorn and hurt that he had in his eyes now.

Hannah got up and grabbed her purse. “I’ll see you at school.”

Sonny heard the door close. He quickly turned around and threw the first thing he came into contact with. He watched the vase he’d just thrown smash into a million pieces, just like his life.

Thin Line Between Love And Hate

Chapter 8

By the next day Carly still couldn’t get her mind off of her problems, she was even trying to do her homework, but Shakespeare just wasn’t keeping her mind occupied. It kept drifting back to the day before when Sonny had grabbed her, she had almost thought he might be human, they way he’d looked at her... but a split second later it was gone. The guy was completely infuriating, if she hadn’t been so angry and upset with him; she would have never felt anything when he put his arms on her. Not that she had felt anything.

Carly’s thought’s drifted to the guy that had been there when she’d walked in. They’d been pretty deep in conversation, or at least, Sonny had been. She had no idea who that guy had been but Sonny hadn’t seemed to like him much. She had almost felt bad for Sonny then he’d yelled at her, like he always did, but now that she thought about it...

“Augggghhh! This is insane.”

Carly screamed to her empty bedroom, there was no way she was going to spend the day thinking about Sonny Corinthos, she had much better things to do with her time. Like wonder what he had said to Jason when she had left. Hell if he were willing to tell Hannah then he’d certainly tell Jason. Although, Carly thought, when he denied telling the little princess he had seemed sincere. Hannah, God if it wasn’t for her she wouldn’t even of had to go see Sonny and she wouldn’t even be thinking about him. It was amazing how Hannah had used concern, fake concern that hadn’t gone unnoticed by Carly, to mask a big mouth. Now Carly had to figure out just who else Hannah might have told.

The strange thing was that now that Carly thought about it, Hannah hadn’t come right out and said what she knew, she’d just implied that she’d known what was going on... But why would she do that?

“I can’t thank you enough Bobbie, this is so great.”

Carly’s head snapped towards her bedroom door. That couldn’t be who she thought it was... Could it? Carly sprang off her bed and opened her door. When she got to the living she almost fell over. There stood Bobbie, Roy and Hannah. Hannah and suitcases, that was.

“Wh... What’s going on?” Carly stammered out trying not to sound to alarmed.

Bobbie turned to Carly.

“Roy and Luke have to go away on a trip, Hannah’s going to be staying with us.”

Carly could hear the warning in her mother’s voice but she couldn’t have cared less.

“What?! What’s wrong with her own house?”

Bobbie rolled her eyes and looked apologetically at Roy and Hannah.

“Carly, Hannah can’t stay there by herself, now why don’t you help Hannah upstairs with her bags.”

Carly stared at Bobbie. “But...”

Bobbie gave Carly a look. “Carly go!”

Carly sighed, glared at Hannah and grabbed a couple bags and headed upstairs to show the princess her accommodations.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sonny knocked softly on Jason’s door, when he didn’t get any answer he quietly opened his door. Jason lay on his bed fast asleep. Sonny smiled to himself, he had no idea why Jason refused to admit he was tired but he did. He was glad he’d finally sacked out. Sonny closed the door as gently as he could and grabbed his coat before heading out for a walk. He needed to clear his head; so many things were swarming around up there. Jason and his accident, Mike and Hannah’s betrayal, Hannah wanted to know everything about him, especially things that weren’t her business. She wanted him to be open and be this perfect image that she had in her head. The thing was though that even if she hadn’t of betrayed him he couldn’t have handled all her questions and the way she tried to fix things. Then of course there was Carly. He couldn’t figure her out, she was always yelling at him, coming off all tough but from what Sonny had seen the night of Jason’s accident Carly wasn’t so tough. And what had she been babbling about Hannah knowing what happened to her? Why was Carly so desperate that no one found out what happened to her as a kid? Especially Jason, they were supposed to be together, weren’t they?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Carly put Hannah’s bags on the bed in the guestroom.

“So how long is Roy going to be away?”

Hannah’s cheerful appearance had disappeared as soon as she and Carly were alone, she looked at Carly with disdain, still wanting to knowing what was going on with her and Sonny and not being in the best of moods from her confrontation with Sonny she replied.

“What do you care?”

Carly took a deep breath willing herself not to rip the little witch’s head off.

“I care because the sooner you’re gone the better.”

“I’m not thrilled to be here either, okay?”

But that wasn’t exactly true, on the one hand Hannah didn’t want to spend the next couple of weeks with Carly but on the other hand, she might be able to find out what exactly Carly was hiding.

Carly glared at Hannah fed up.

“I don’t know what deal is but let’s just get this straight, we live in the same house, but don’t go thinking we’re going to best friends now. You stay out of my way and I’ll stay out of yours, got it?”

Hannah looked at Carly icily.

“Got it.”

Carly turned and left Hannah’s room, she grabbed her coat and was half way out the door when Bobbie saw her.

“Carly! A word.”

Carly groaned and shuffled her feet as her mother made her way to her.

“What? I’m just going for a walk.”

Bobbie nodded.

“I just want to make it clear that well Hannah’s here you are to be on your best behaviour. I don’t want you being rude again, understood?”

Carly nodded and walked out the door. She had almost made it to the end of the driveway when she saw Sonny walking up.

“Come to visit your girlfriend?” Carly said passing by him.

Sonny stopped in his tracks, he had come over to talk to Carly, to tell her she didn’t have to worry about him telling anyone, it obviously meant a lot to her. But he was taken back by her comment.

“Girlfriend?”

Carly stopped and turned to him.

“You know? Hannah? The one with the really big mouth?”

Sonny’s eyes narrowed.

“Funny I thought that was you.”

Sonny paused.

“Why is Hannah at your house?”

Carly groaned.

“Roy and Luke are going globe trotting and little miss perfect can’t stay by herself so we’re putting her up.”

Sonny nodded.

Carly narrowed her eyes.

“So what did you tell Jason?”

Sonny’s face took on a stone like quality

“What makes you think I told him anything?”

Carly glared at Sonny and said in a stern voice. While poking her finger in his chest.

“You better have not have said anything.”

Sonny glared back, this girl couldn’t be civil even for a second, he quickly grabbed her finger causing both Sonny and Carly to look down, remembering the last time they had touched. Sonny was first to react. He quickly pushed away Carly’s finger.

“Explain something to me, why are you so afraid of Jason finding out about what happened to your mother? Aren’t you supposed to be with him? And what is the big deal? You act like you killed someone.”

Carly stepped back away from Sonny; feeling like he’d just slapped her. She looked away, trying to keep her tears from coming. When she finally looked back at Sonny her face was hard, as was the look in her eyes.

“She was not my mother, and the reason I don’t want people to know is none of your damn business. As for you thinking I’m acting like I killed someone, you’re insane!”

Sonny smiled menacingly at her,

“Oh but you see Carly, it is my business, that is of course if you don’t want me to tell anyone.”

Carly glared at Sonny unable to believe the monster in front of him was human.

“Fine you want to know so bad why I don’t want anyone to know what happened? It’s because it was my fault, I caused Lisa’s death, if it wasn’t for me, she’d be alive, I killed the only person who ever really loved me, enough people told me it was my fault. Then I caused Jason’s accident, why do you think Monica hate’s me so much? I don’t want people feeling sorry for me and I don’t want people knowing just how dangerous I am to be around! And believe you me if you know what’s good for you, you won’t talk about this, think about this or even wonder about this.”

Carly quickly turned and ran away as fast as she could. Damn you Sonny Corinthos! How was it that guy who was completely hateful and arrogant was the only person who could get under her skin that way, when he looked at her she could swear that he already knew everything about her. He looked down deep into her and it scarred her, no it terrified her. She had managed to keep a lid on her emotions since she was eleven and he was single handily unravelling her tightly wrapped shell in a matter of a couple weeks. Which meant only one thing. She was going to have to try even harder to do what needed to be done.

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Carly wound up walking around for a couple hours, by the time she noticed how late it was getting she was no where near any more ready to go home. Bobbie was bad enough but with Hannah there and most likely Sonny, it was not the place she wanted to be.

She found herself heading towards Jason’s. When she finally arrived she went to Jason’s window, she didn’t want to risk running into anyone but Jason, she went to climb in but it was closed and locked.

“Damn!” She said quietly.

Carly knew Jason might be lying on the bed asleep and Carly didn’t want to wake him, she just wanted to crawl into bed next to him. To have the comfort of someone’s arms around her. She stood silent for a minute until she thought of something. She made her way to the other bedroom window, hoping it was open.

“Jackpot!”

The only problem was that is was Sonny’s bedroom, with a quick glance around she threw caution to the wind and hopped up quickly climbing up the well worn path to the Brown Stones roof. She made her way along the ledge and swung herself into Sonny’s room.

She landed on the ground with a small thump. Carly stood up and couldn’t resist glancing around. What she saw surprised her. First of all it was clean and very tidy, second it didn’t look like a teenage guy’s room. It had style. Carly would have thought that Sonny would be the type to expect people to clean up after him, and she had yet to meet a guy with a sense of style about something other than the way they dressed.

Carly started for the door but stopped short when she noticed a framed picture of a striking woman on Sonny’s dressing. Carly picked up the picture and studied it. She assumed it was Sonny’s mother, what with the dark features and all. But even Carly had to admit how beautiful the woman in the picture was but she also looked... haunted. Her eyes had a look Carly had seen before, in Lisa’s eyes.

Carly broke out of the trance she was in and put the picture back where she found it. She went to the door and went to Jason’s room.

Carly grabbed one of Jason’s shirts and quickly slipped it on. She was just climbing into bed beside a sleeping Jason when she noticed her most prized possession, the bracelet Lisa had gotten her for her eleventh birthday, was missing.

“Crap!” Carly yelled standing up and looking around frantically.

Jason woke with a start.

“Carly?”

Carly looked at Jason guiltily.

“Sorry, I tried not to wake you.”

Jason nodded yawning.

“What’s wrong?”

Carly sighed.

“My bracelet it’s not on my wrist, I don’t know where it is!”

Jason sighed and looked at the clock noting how late it was getting and patted the bed.

“Come to bed, I promise I’ll find it for you in the morning.”

Carly hesitated but finally gave in and climbed beside Jason, she kissed him good night and curled up in his arms. Carly glanced at the open door, she could tell that someone was standing there, although she had just noticed it. But then the person walked down the hall and closed a door. There was only one person who it could be, Sonny, but why had he been watching them and even more importantly why did Carly care?

~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~

Sonny saw Carly’s head turn towards him and he quickly heading to his room. He hadn’t stopped thinking about her since there argument earlier. He felt bad, really bad, Carly just had this ability to push him like no other girl he knew and before he even realized it he was saying things he didn’t mean.

Sonny headed over to the window, it was cold and he wanted to close it. His eye saw something flash from the floor and he stopped, bent over and picked it up. He studied it; it was a bracelet or more specifically, Carly’s bracelet. Sonny only knew because her name was engraved in it. Which brought only one thought to Sonny’s mind. When had Carly been in his bedroom and Why?
