It was the end of the day, and they had just carried an innumerable amount of boxes filled with newspapers from the FBI library downstairs. Mulder had said he was "looking for anomalies" but, as always, he found nothing. "Well, that was certainly a waste of time," Scully sighed. "You didn't have to carry that downstairs, Scully," he replied, smiling "I know. But the look you get on your face when you think you've found something is priceless," she grinned. "We've just read every single New Mexican newspaper written from 1940-1949. You know Scully, I never thought I'd say this," he thought, "but I am bored out of my mind." "No kidding." Scully unenthusiastically glanced around the room. Like every Friday night, the office was a mess. She was too lazy to clean now. All she wanted to do was spend some quality time with Mulder. Perhaps go to the park and play some baseball like that Saturday a few weeks ago. Scully didn't want to admit it, but as weird as it may sound, hitting that ball with Mulder was one of the most romantic things anyone had ever done for her, and now they were closer then ever. How could she admit it? After all, it was only Mulder. ONLY Mulder. Hmm...if it was truly "only Mulder" why did it feel so special? The answer was simple: she loved him. That was the same reason why she had carried all of those boxes downstairs. How could she let him know? What if he didn't feel the same way? These questions boggled her mind every day. "Scully?" a familiar voice rang in her ears. "What? Hmm?" Scully hadn't noticed that she had completely faded out while listening to her own thoughts. "You're so quiet. Is something wrong?" Mulder asked, concerned. "No, not at all." She smiled at his troubled face, hoping to reassure him that she was, in fact, fine. Mulder thought, Mulder tried so hard to push these thoughts out of his mind. He decided to break the silence, the worriedness, and most importantly, the boredom. "You know, we never do anything Scully." "Mulder, we just brought fifty boxes of newspaper downstairs AND managed to finish reading it in less than four hours. I think we just did something." "No, I mean like DO something." "Oh.....like go to a movie?" Scully tried not to sound to obvious at her hinting. "Yeah, something like that." Mulder said mischievously. "Mulder, are you coming on to me?" Scully asked in a mock tone, just as he had done three years ago on a rock in Georgia. "What do you say Scully? Are you ready to go back to Titanic?" he asked in a hushed whisper. "I think I have found better things to do with my time than watch Leonardo DiCaprio stand center-stage in some teeny-bopper movie that bears no signifigance or resemblance to the actual happening on the tragic night in 1912." Scully was actually a huge Titanic fan. She'd already seen it 10 times in theaters, but she didn't want Mulder to know that underneath her cool exterior she was a hopeless romantic. "Don't lie to me Dana Katherine Scully. I've seen you walk out of the Cineplex all teary-eyed." "That was, uh, 'The Phantom Menace.' That ending gets me everytime." Scully lied, poorly. "Well, 'The Phantom Menace' is a exactly the reason why 'Titanic' is making it's big comeback this week only. Come on Scully! I haven't seen it and I heard the music in that drawing scene's really good." "Oh, is THAT why you want to see it?" Scully raised an eyebrow. "Um...." "Mulder, if we're going to see a movie together, the only girl you can drool over is me." Scully said in a matter-of-fact tone. "No problem. I can handle that." he replied casually. It was times like these where Scully realized why she had stayed with Mulder for this long. "Grab that nice suede coat of yours, Scully. I'm buying!" He motioned towards the coat rack and they finally walked out of the office. * * * * * Scully sat in the passenger seat of Mulder's car as he checked one last thing. She looked in the mirror, making sure her make-up and hair were perfect. She didn't even notice Mulder step in the car. "You look beautiful Dana." he said softly, yet loud enough for her to hear. Scully was sure she was hearing things. "Really?" she asked, hoping he had said something. "Sure. Any guy in the right mind would think your gorgeous." They both smiled, Scully trying to hold back tears. "Anyway, I think you'd look cute in a paper bag." His hand brushed her cheek as he ran his fingers through her hair. Scully was at a loss of words. Not wanting to ruin the moment, she smiled and said nothing. Mulder knew she was happy. Right after that, he couldn't wait to get to the movie. * * * * * .......on the way to the theater........ "Mulder, I think you go this way." "Six years together Scully, and how many times have I been wrong--" "Not this again Mulder." Scully interrupted. "Well, just remember what I said the first time." "How could I forget?! Those were some of the most exciting days of my life!" Scully exclaimed. "You’re Life!?" Mulder’s eyes were wide with amazement, "I saw you naked!" "But all slimy." "And that’s a bad thing?" "Never again." Scully insisted. * * * * * Mulder parked the car and opened the door. Scully began to open hers. "No stop! You’re not supposed to!" He hopped out and ran around to the other side of the car to open her door. "You’ve never done this before Mulder. So, what? Now I’m incapable or something?" "No I just wanted to make it more special." Scully shied away. she thought. And before you could say ‘scary white domes in the middle of nowhere’, she darted out, reached for his hand and held it. With their fingers intertwined, they walked into the Cineplex. * * * * * Mulder and Scully, now seemingly noticeably more uncomfortable, both decided that if there was going to be a conversation, now was the time. "You know, that’s James Cameron’s hand drawing the picture, Mulder." "The lucky bastard!" "Mulder!? Do you have a thing for Kate Winslet I don’t know about?" "Well, you know. Me and redheads." he said playfully, patting her on the back. Scully grabbed a strand of her hair just to reassure herself of the redness of it, and slid it behind her ear. Just as she had hoped, he pulled her closer and they both smiled. Scully rested her head on his shoulder. "That’s OK, Scully. I know you have a thing for Leonardo DiCaprio." "Mulder, number one, Leonardo was still guest staring on Lassie while I was in Quantico. And number two, My heart belongs to Mel Gibson, and I’m sure he likes me back." "Oh ya. Who can resist those mosquito bites?" "Well, you can’t." she motionined towards his arm slipped around her shoulder. "You looked cold!" "It’s 23 degrees Celsius in here." "Might as well try." he shrugged as he took his arm off her shoulder. * * * * * "I don’t get it." "Don’t get what, Mulder?" "Why do they have to keep it so secret? Why doesn’t she just spit in Cal’s face or something?" Scully began to nod. "She--" She abruptly stopped remembering just how convincing her overall denial of EVER seeing the movie was. Mulder yawned and very casually, once again put his arm around her shoulder. "What are you doing?" she asked. "What? Can’t I be affectionate with my girlfriend?" he teased. "Girlfriend!?" She asked, surprised. "Since when?" "Since we’re not working and Skinner isn’t breathing down our necks." he replied. * * * * * <1!!!!2!!!!> "I think it would be to hard for Rose to hear Jack." Mulder observed. "Even if he was yelling. I mean, with all the rushing water..." <......3!!!> Mulder let out a deep sigh. About his fifth of the night. "Shut-up Mulder! This is the best part!" "I thought you never saw this movie!" he mimicked. "I--" she stopped realizing there was no point. She had been beaten. Now feeling less superior, but surprisingly comfortable with Mulder’s arm around her, she slid lower in her chair. "Beaten by the best." she announced. "What?" "Oh, nothing." "That’s OK, I heard you anyways." Mulder laughed. * * * * * Scully wiped a tear away from her eye as Mulder began to recite the lines. Mulder: "I promise. I won’t let go." Scully thought for a moment and then picked up where he left off. "Never let go." With these three words Scully’s deep blue eyes met Mulders intense stare. Suddenly, they picked up where THEY left off in the hallway. Their faces moved closer...closer...closer...their lips met, and the passion they had held back for all this time exploded in a frenzy of love. Scully, already overcome with emotion from watch TITANIC wrapped her arms around his neck. He embraced her and hoped this would never end. But it had to, and Scully needed to know just ONE thing.... "Mulder?" "Fox. Only from you." He said in a dreamy voice. "Fox...how did you know what they were going to say?" she pondered. "I love TITANIC." Scully couldn’t hold it back. After the kiss she had so longed for these past years, she knew now was the time. "I love you so much." she sobbed. "I love you too, Dana. But I already told you that." A small smile creeped across his face. "It took Jack and Rose less than 4 days to fall in love. How come it took us so long?" Scully questioned. "It didn’t." ======================= ========THE END======== ======================= Written By: Melanie Moore and Sarah Siddons
