Chuniophoenix is a genus of two fan palm species, C. hainensis and C. nana, from south east Asia.  They are very rare and their hardiness limits are not really known.  It is not likely that they are going to be extremely hardy, and it is known that they like hot, humid conditions.  However they might have similar uses to Rhapis spp., being suitable in very sheltered, shaded positions such as entryways, and they might also be good potted patio plants.  C. nana is a diminutive species and C. hainensis is larger more impressive palm.  They are likely to be very slow growing in our cool climate.
