4 yr old Xarina PPxCurly mare 5/12/05

Xarina's dam came down with DSLD/ESPA when she was pregnant with Xarina. Her granddam also came down with DSLD/ESPA when Xarina was a youngster.

5/12/05 Xarina is showing some early symptoms of dsld. Some swelling in fetlocks, somewhat enlarged suspensories in rear legs. Slight drop in pasterns but not much. Last month 4/05 her suspensories were extremely tight and very hard, like a cable ready to snap from strain, now her suspensories are more enlarged and not as tight feeling.

5/12/05 Front legs showing slight drop in fetlock not much swelling, but showing enlarged suspensory. Xarina is still sound and runs and bucks and gaits like crazy. No other symptoms than what the pictures show.

6/7/05 Xarina is showing heat and swelling in all four fetlocks near the suspensory branches and a bove. This is left hind.

6/7/05 Very sore with swelling & heat on inside of both front fetlocks near suspensory branches. Note enlarged suspensory above fetlock. Fetlock is not dropped but seems to be more upright.

6/7/05 Rear legs show some drop in pasterns but not much. Xarina is still sound and still runs, but has heat in swelling in back fetlocks too. She is also showing swelling the hocks.

4/2006 Xarina continued to show more symptoms including tripping, wide rear stance and fetlocks becomeing more fexed when in motion and fetlocks were dropping some when standing. She was started on the new treatment study & has improved, is much more mobile and seems to show less discomfort. She is looking younger and acting happier.
