MID OCTOBER MOOSE HUNT

We had a terrific hunt in the Chilcotin in mid October, although we came home empty handed. There were quite a few cows and calves and I was a little slow in identifying antlers on a young bull one morning, so didn't get a shot. Here's one of the many nice meadows we were directed to and were surprised not to find moose there.

MID NOVEMBER WHITETAIL

With the rut heating up, I was hopeful of catching up to a nice whitetail with my bow. After several relatively close but fruitless encounters, this guy gave me a 200+ yard opportunity - for which I had to replace the bow with my rifle. November 18.

LATE ARCHERY

From November 25 to December 10 is late archery season, during which does as well as bucks are fair game. Mike got this nice doe December 3.

WALKING AWAY FROM ANOTHER SEASON

We're allowed two whitetails per season, just one of which can be a buck. Since I had shot my buck in November, this one was off limits to me. He was broadside to me at 18 yards on the last day and he is, indeed, walking away from another season.
