Understanding ActiveX and OLE
This book is written for executives, business planners, software designers, and
technical managers. In clear language the author provides an excellent introduction
to Component Object Model (COM) technology--the bedrock of Windows DNA.
Programming Components with Microsoft Visual Basic 6.0, 2ed
Here is another fantastic reference at an introductory to intermediate level on the subjects
of COM, ActiveX, UDA, Microsoft Transaction Server, and Internet Information Server.
Microsoft Windows DNA Exposed
This book provides a nice mix of business and technical coverage of Windows DNA and is
a fast read with 248 pages. It is well-suited to a technical manager or
a developer who is new to Windows DNA.
Inside Distributed COM
This is a great book about COM and DCOM that is well worth reading.
Visual Studio 6.0 Core Reference Set
This is the five-volume reference set for the Visual Studio 6.0 suite.
This is the print version of the documentation included with the online help system
that comes with Visual Studio.
MCSD Analyzing Requirements: Exam 70-100
Okay, from what I have seen, a lot of people seem to think this book is a huge failure
in preparing one to pass MCSD exam 70-100 Solutions Architectures, and others disagree.
Whatever the case, this book is a fine reference for the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF),
and from that standpoint I recommend it highly. You can also add value to the text by
rewriting the sections to complement your understanding of MSF and solutions design
methods in general. Use it as a handy checkoff list in combination with your own years
of project team experience to guide you. The book contains some real gems for those
eager enough to ferret them out. The book also comes with the entire text neatly
formatted in HTML files on CDROM, so it's easy enough to rewrite it for yourself.
