Jaime Fraser - Guitar/ Lead Vocals.

When you write songs which comes first - the lyrics or the music?

Usually the lyrics are already written. I write loads of poetry and lyrics all the time. Then when the music is written i'll go through all the lyrics i have and see which ones fit well with the music and then i'll write a couple of new lines for the song here and there.

What made you think of the name Polystigma?

The name Polystigma is actually the name of a fish. I saw it once when I was at an aquarium at Manly and I was like "hell yeah, thats gotta be the name for my band!"

Was the name of the band always going be Polystigma when it started out?

Yep. Because after I found the name Polystigma it was like another two years before I actually had a band together. So they had no choice really but to grin and bear my stupid name!

Whats your all-time favourite Polystigma song?

Hmm thats hard. Maybe one of the really early ones we played called "All Your Violins". I remember I wrote it after listening to too much Silverchair!! He he. But I dont know I was 15 at the time and I thought it was the most powerful and rawest thing id ever written so I was quite proud of that. Other songs that fit into that era like "Die Alone" and "Romantic Destruction" are also faves of mine coz they were so true to me when I wrote them. I was in a big "Woe is me!" era as you can tell from the names!!! But they just remind me of how I wanted to write when we started out and its really cute.

Is there any songs that you guys wrote that didnt make it to recording?

Oh theres been plenty. But with the latest EP we were pretty definite with which songs we wanted on there.

What do the lyrics to Midst of a Spin mean?

I was trying to start a sexual revolution dammit! But I got bored of it. Ha ha!

What was the first cd you ever bought?

Kylie Minogues first album when I was 6 years old! I friggin loved Kylie when I was little. Kylie and Madonna were my bitches when I was little.

Whats your most rememberable moment of being in the band?

Things like playing a great show and coming off stage buzzing. Or having a great jam and just getting the most awesome feeling when you're playing.

Are there any songs you regret making?

Four words "Three Little Scottish Boys". But I place the blame soley on Kimb and Kirsten for that coz they wrote it the bastards! It was in the very early days! But im pretty bad for writing "Reason Why" so i'll take some of the blame for making the poor girls play that!

Do you have any advice to offer young musicians who are trying to start a band of their own?

Yeah just do it. Its not hard at all.
