Like Hell

(Ray Denning)

When I was young my father taught me right from wrong

We found we disagreed on what that meant before too long

He didn’t understand back then something inside me burns

He told I was young and foolish and some day id learn

I fought with my teacher and he kept me after school

Said id be a failure if I didn’t learn the rules

When I told him all about my dreams he laughed right in my face

He sent me off and told me that soon I would learn my place

Now that I am older theres one thing I have found

When this world tries to discourage you you have to hold your ground

The world may break your heart but if youre strong enough to mend

You'll tell em once and tell em twice and tell em once again
