Dirty Little Secret is the result of Universal's infatuation with "pop music princesses". Since Stella owed universal a favor, she decided to allow them to have her create a more up-beat and pop record, thus the creation of Dirty Little Secret. Some fans were angry because they thought Stella was "selling out". (which in my mind is complete bull-shit). Stella kept in touch with fans and let them hear new songs right when they came out. Dirty Little Secret was released on May 22nd, 2001. The first single, "Kiss Kiss" was a big hit on radio stations. However, the next two singles, Pretty Young Thing and You, were next to unheard of. The album ranges from Happy and Upbeat songs (Imperfect, Stand Up, Look My Way)to slower, more meaningful songs (You and Angelface). Dirty Little Secret was an amazing pop record that had to have had an impact on a lot of lives.
