Stella Katsoudas was born on November 3rd. No one knows the year because she doesn't want people to know how old she is *grins* Her mother was a dance school instructor, and her father ran a donought shop. Stella used to be a professional dancer until her brother invited her to sing in his band. She was slightly skeptical at first, but after a few rehearsals she learned she had a very talented voice. Stella has been involved in the music business for quite some time and has worked with many different bands, such as Chemlab, 16 Volts, Acumen Nation and Ministry.
Stella got her start in the record business when she put an ad in Crain's Chicago Business saying: “Young talented artist on verge of recording deal seeking investors."
After getting enough money put together, Stella formed the band Sister Soleil and released the EP "Drown Me In You" in the year 1995. After trying to get multiple stores to distribute the EP and failing, Stella "made-up" the label Katharsis Records and the redistibuted the CD. The new record label made the CD more professional looking, so more stores sold it.
In 1997, Sister Soleil signed with the major record label UNIVERSAL. They immediately started work on "Soularium" and they got some big name help on it. Soularium was recorded in Peter Gabriel's Real World studio in Box, England. Peter even contributed his vocals to one song on the album, which was "Blind". The final product of Soularium consisted of many different musicians, DJs, remixers and producers. Corey Taylor, of Slipknot, sang with Stella on the track "Liar".
In 2000, Stella flew back to London to work on her Solo CD, Dirty Little Secret. Universal started to send out promo copies of her newest single, "Kiss Kiss" to see if it would play well. The main place they played it was in Miami, Florida on the station Y-100 and it was a huge success. Dirty Little Secret came out on May 1st, 2001. Over the summer, Stella toured with the Go-Go's around the country.
Dirty Little Secret was a hit. However, Stella decided to drop the pop act in search of something she could relate to easier. She then started the band Whorse, which originally consisted of Stella, Ben Rowley, Jeff Hanes, and Danny Ward. However, Danny soon left the band and was replaced by Damon (last name unavailable at the moment). Whorse has been promoting all over the Midwest and the West (Los Angeles mainly) and their album should be out in late May.
Stella's newest project is the rock band, Whorse. Whorse consists of Benjamin Rowley (bass guitar), Jeff Hanes (drums) and Stella on vocals. Whorse has gained quite a bit of fame in the midwest and west coast, and even some fans in countries like Canada and Germany. Many fans think this could really be the one that puts Stella on the map. We all hope the comes true.
