If You Only Knew

February 6, 1999...

The lightning ripped the sky apart and the thunder soon answered back as I stood at my huge picture window watching the storm rage outside. I was trapped in my own house with my "best friend", Kevin Richardson. The storm had flooded roads and downed power lines making it too dangerous for him to get home tonight and plus the fact that he was a little drunk, too. I sighed to myself again as the lightning and thunder rang once again.

"I wish he wasn't stuck here," I thought to myself before hearing a noise behind me.

I turned around as Kevin came into the living room, the lighting outlining his frame. I crossed my arms over my chest and returned my attention to the weather. "Are you mad at me, Kaitlyn?" Kevin asked my back. I snorted and retorted, "Why would I be mad at you?! You just embarrassed yourself and me, I might add, at my...MY party tonight." "Huh?" Even though I wasn't looking at him, I could hear the confused look on his face. I threw up my arms and whipped around, my dark brown hair flying around my head. "You were all over Sarah! And let me tell you, it looked like a lot more than dirty dancing."

I saw the half smile on his lips and that made me mad. "Kaitlyn, you sound like you're jealous of my girlfriend," Kevin informed me. That took me a step back. "Wait a minute...you got it....that's not what I...." I babbled. Kevin leaned forward on the couch watching my every move, his eyes trying to make contact with mine. "That's it, isn't it? You were jealous," Kevin said, sounding amazed. I put my hands at my hips and gave him a smirk. "You think you're so smart. No that's NOT it! As your friend, I just wanted you to know how dumb you looked dancing like that with that hoochie mama, you call your girlfriend!" I went on and on, not even knowing what else I was saying. I didn't even notice that Kevin got up from the couch.

Kevin suddenly kissed me hard on the lips, stopping my ranting. I wrapped my arms around his neck and returned the kiss. My light blue eyes flew open when he pulled back. He looked at me with that smug smile of his. "I knew it!" "Knew what?" I replied, trying to keep the shake out of my voice. "You ARE jealous," Kevin enlightened me. "AAARRRGGGG!" I screamed and stomped out of the room. I heard him laugh. I walked into the kitchen and my hands were shaking.

"Why am I reacting this way? Why is Kevin affecting me like this? For goodness sake, Kat, he loves and is dating another girl," I said to myself as I thought back to the kiss. His soft lips on mine, my tongue intertwined with his...my heart racing. I DID AND DO want that, I said admitting it to myself. I went back to the living room.

Kevin was still sitting on the couch. Lighting struck once again, making the room glow with a bluish light. I quickly walked over to him and pushed him down onto the couch before I got on top of him and kissed him passionately. I felt his shock but he kissed me back, his arms going around my waist. My hands went to his shirt and I pulled it open, the buttons flying every which way. Kevin smiled under my lips. I ran my fingers over his smooth chest. Damn he was hot! Why didn't we think of this before?!, I thought to myself as I felt him unzip the back of my dress. I reached for the hem and pulled it up over my head. I leaned back down to his lips. I went for his zipper as I felt my bra loosen and the rush of cool air on my breasts. Kevin kissed down my neck and licked around my nipple. I moaned softly as I thought to myself, He is good at this! He tugged my erect nipple with his teeth, making me gasp out loud.

We rolled over in our hurry and fell to the soft carpet. Kevin was over me now. He continued kissing down my stomach. Nothing gets in this guy's way, I thought, my breath ragged. He quickly pulled my panties off and spread my legs apart. "Oh, G-d!" I yelled, as Kevin's tongue went after my hot spot. My back arched off the floor when I felt his fingers enter me. I heard his zipper go down and his pants fall to the floor before I pulled Kevin back over me. I felt his manhood hard against my thigh but before I could get a good look, he thrusted his monster into me. "SSSSHHHHIIIITTTT!" I screamed. Kevin kissed me in the heat of passion. He pushed himself further into me. Kevin moved further down my body and caused my giggle to become a gasp as he flicked his tongue slowly over my center. I began to moan softly as he slowly slid his tongue in and out of me before he could feel my climax.

"Oh damn," I said as my whole body shuddered as I climaxed. Kevin lapped up my sweet liquid before slowly kissed his way back up my body. When he was close enough, I pulled him up to me so she could taste his lips. I began to moan softly as I slowly sucked his tongue into my mouth, tasting the sweet and saltiness of myself on his tongue. Their tongues began an erotic dance as I felt his tip near my wet center.

I softly wrapped my legs around his waist before I began to moan softly against his lips as he pushed himself slowly into me. He broke our kiss looking into my eyes to see if I was all right. My hips began to rock against his before he pushed himself fully into me but he still didn’t move.

“I love you, Kay,” Kevin mumbled against my lips before I softly replied, “I love you, too.”

Kevin slowly captured my lips with his before he slowly pulled himself out of me and then back in, setting our pace. My legs lifted higher on his back causing him to go faster and deeper into my folds. Kevin felt my body grip onto him as he felt my climax and his own. I came for the fourth time that night screaming his name as Kevin laid his head against my neck screaming my name in his own climax as he shot his load deep inside of me. Kevin softly pressed his body against me before slowly rolling to his side as he pulled out of me. He easily pulled me up next to him before softly kissing my forehead as we settled down. The two of us softly whispered “I love you” to each other before finally dozing off into a peaceful sleep. Neither of us hearing the storm raging outside of the window.

April 6, 1999...

One humid April morning, I had gone into work as the guys' assistant as I received the shock of my life. I had walked into the room with AJ's girlfriend and my best friend, Kristina Ryan, who was also one of the guys' dancer, as I heard the worst sound in the world. The sound of two people giggling and talking about something. I stopped in the hallway as I heard that the voice belonged to Sarah, who was a dancer and now Kevin's girlfriend, talking to another dancer about a night she had with Kevin. As I heard her talking about the different things they had done, my stomach began to turn as my eyes began to well up from tears. Before I could tell Kristina anything, I had to make a run for the bathroom.

A few minutes later, I was sitting next to the toilet in one of the stalls crying to myself as Kristina came into the room looking for me.

"Kat? Are you in here?" she questioned.

"Yes," I said crying.

Kristina opened the stall door before sitting beside me. She enveloped me into a hug as she rubbed my back trying to soothe my tears that kept falling.

"Do you wanna talk about it?" she asked me. I nodded softly to her before spilling everything that had happened that night two months before but I stopped before giving her the shock that I had learned two weeks earlier.

"And...and...," I said before stopping.

"Kat, what's wrong? I'm your best friend and you can tell me anything," she told me.

"Krisp, I'm...I'm pregnant. I'm pregnant with his baby," I told her.

"Have you told him?" she said to me.

"No...but I've tried over and over again," I told her as I saw her reaction.

"Kat, you have to tell him. He has the right to know," she said to me.

"I'm quitting," I told her as I stood up and went to wash my face.

"Quitting? But Kat, this is your life. You can't just quit because of this," she told me.

"Yes, I can. I already gave John my resignation last week," I told her as I walked out of the bathroom with her behind me.

"But, Kaitlyn, how can you do that?" she asked me as she followed me to my office, where I went back to finish the packing of my stuff.

"Easy, just like this," I told her as I put the last of my stuff into a plastic snap-top box. I walked out of the room and was going to my car as I noticed Howie coming into the building with Cassie, who was a dancer and his cousin.

"Hey, Kait, where are you going?" Howie asked stopping as he saw me open my car as he came over to me.

"I'm going home, D. I quit," I told him.

"You quit. Why?" he said to me.

"I...I don't wanna talk about it," I told him.

"Don't wanna talk. Wait a minute, Kait, you can't just tell me that you are gonna quit and just leave without explaining," he said to me.

"Fine. I will tell you over lunch," I told him. "Deal?"

"Deal," he said to me before getting into my car as I got into the driver's side.

A few minutes later, the two of us pulled into our favorite oriental restaurant. We got our food and drove to my home so that he wouldn't be noticed. The two of us were sitting in my living room eating as he spoke to me.

"So what's going on?" he asked me.

"I'm quitting because I'm pregnant," I told him.

"Oh my gosh, how long?" he asked me.

"Two months," I told him as I stirred my 7UP.

"But for some reason, I can tell that's not the only reason why," he said to me.

"It's not," I said to him.

"Are you gonna tell me the other reason why?" he asked me.

"I'm carrying Kevin's baby," I said almost inaudible.

"Wait a minute. Did you just say that the baby is Kevin's," he asked me.

"Yes," I told him.

"Wait a minute, I thought that Kevin was with Sarah," he said.

"He was. It just happened," I told him. "He was drunk and I was in love."

"In love?" he said to me. I only nodded before standing up. "Does he know?" he asked me as I collected the dishes.

"No," I said to him taking them into the kitchen.

"Kait, he does have the right to know," he said as he followed me. "He will understand."

"He won't understand because I'm not gonna tell him," I told him. "That's why I quit. I'm moving back to Toronto."

"Toronto? But your life is here. Who will you live with up there? And how are you gonna take care of a baby with no job and no money?" he asked me.

"I have my inheritance and I can find another job," I told him reminding him of the money that parents left me before they were killed in an car accident. "And I already have an apartment there."

"Kait, I know how you are? Once you decide on something, there is nothing to stop you but please let me help you," he said to me. "The guys and I have a few days off. I will help you move and get settled."

"Fine but you have to...are you listening you have to promise me that you won't tell Kevin about the baby," I told him.

"Okay, I promise. Only if I can be there with you when the baby is born," he said to me.

"Of course," I told him. "And D, thanks for being here."

"You're welcome, Kait," he said as he hugged me.

February 1, 2000...

Well, it's been almost a year since I have talked to Kevin and he still doesn't know about our son. That's right, our son. At 12:15 a.m. on Kevin's birthday, I gave birth to a 8 pound, 2 ounce baby boy, that I named Tyler Scott. He was born a month early but was still as healthy as a newborn could be and as I promised Howie, he was there when Tyler was born. I also named him as Tyler's godfather.

Today is actually the first time I will see Howie since the day I got out of the hospital with Tyler. He had to leave that day since the guys were still on tour but still called almost twice every week. I had decided to go to Orlando and surprise him with a visit since he told me that Kevin had gone home to Kentucky for a vacation with Brian, Nick, and Sarah. The thought of the father of my son with another woman still made my stomach start to turn.

I pulled into Howie's driveway to see that his car wasn't the only one in the driveway. AJ's Expedition was also there. I debated on if I should leave or not, but said that he would find out soon enough. I undid Tyler's carrier before getting out of the car with it in my arms. I went to the door and moved my arm softly to ring the bell, so not to wake Ty up.

"I'll get it. It's probably the pizza," I heard AJ say before he opened the door.

"I'm not a pizza delivery service, Bone," I told him as he opened the door.

"Holy s**t, Kaitlyn," AJ said to me.

"AJ, what did you-," I heard Kristina's voice say before she came to the door. "Oh my gosh, Kat. What are you doing here? Wait a minute is that?"

"Hello to you, too," I said to her. "May we come in?"

"Sure," AJ said before yelling. "Yo, D, you got company."

"Thanks, Bone. I just got him to sleep," I said as Tyler started to cry. I set down the carrier before taking him into my arms trying to get him back to sleep.

"Oh my gosh, Kaitlyn, what are you doing here? I thought that you were still in Toronto," Howie said to me as he hugged us softly.

"TORONTO?" AJ and Krisp said at the same time causing Tyler to cry louder.

"Guys, lower your voice. You're scaring him," I said to them as I finally got him to stop crying after I gave him his bottle.

"Are you gonna tell us why you have a baby?" AJ said in a quiet voice.

"I think you know why, AJ," I said laughing softly as I sat down in one of the rocking recliners that Howie had in his living room.

"You know what I mean," he said to me. "Whose baby is it?"

"Well, guys, I want you to meet my son, Tyler Scott Carpenter-Richardson," I said to them.

"Wait a minute, here. You are telling me that you had Kevin's baby," he said to me.

"Yes, that's right," I told him. "Five months ago, on Kevin's birthday, I had his son."

"So that's why you left but does he know?" he asked me. "Kait, does Kevin know that he has a son?"

"Uh..uh, no," I told him.

"Did you ever tell him that you were pregnant?" Krisp said to me.

"No, I didn't," I said to her before hearing two cars pull in.

"Well, you will probably have to tell him because he just pulled into the driveway with Frick and Frack," AJ said as he looked out the window.

"What?" I said to him standing up. I looked out the window to see the father of my baby get out of his car with that thing he calls a girlfriend. As quickly as I could, I grabbed my stuff and headed up the steps to Howie's room. I quickly closed the door as I heard them come into the home. I laid my now sleeping baby into the crib that I noticed was next to the wall before I tried to listen to what they were saying. I opened the door silently but softly closed it back as I heard the worst thing in the world.

"Hey, guys, we have some great news," Kevin said to them.

"We're engaged," Sarah said holding up her hand to show them. After I softly closed the door, I slid onto the floor leaning against it. I laid my head on my knees and softly cried for a few minutes before hearing someone knock on the door. I slowly got up and opened it to see Howie standing there. He came into the room before taking me into his arms and hugging me.

"They are gone, now...So, I take it that you heard," he said to me as he noticed my tears. I nodded my head as I leaned against him as we sat down on the bed next to each other.

"Why? Why does this always happened to me? I have lost the person that I love the most in this world," I said to him.

"No, you haven't, Kait. You still have your son and you have me," he said to me.

"Thanks, D," I said to him as we continued to hug.

"No, Kait. I meant it. I love you," he said to me looking into my eyes. As I looked into his eyes, I knew that he was telling the truth. I softly leaned forward and kissed him softly on the lips.

"I love you, too," I said to him as we broke apart. I closed my eyes softly as he softly returned my kiss. The two of us got more into our kiss as Tyler broke us apart crying. I began to laugh before getting up and going over to where my little boy was laying.

"I see that you found my present," he said to me as I took Tyler out of the crib. "I was gonna bring that up to Toronto for you."

"Thanks, D," I said to him before laying Tyler onto the bed so I could changed his diaper. After I changed him, I softly put him back to bed and watched him a moment before softly yawning.

"You're tired. You can lay here for awhile," he said to me.

"Thanks, D," I said to him as I sat back down on the bed before he softly got up. I softly grabbed his wrist. "Stay with me until I fall asleep."

"Are you sure?" he said to me.

"Yeah," I said before he laid next to me, holding me in his arms so that I was laying on his chest. "Night, D."

"Night, Kaitlyn," he said before softly kissing my forehead.

***********

I woke up about four hours later to the sound of Howie softly singing. I rolled over onto my back before opening my eyes to see him standing next to Tyler's crib singing to him. Without him noticing, I slowly got up and wrapped my arms around him as I got to his side.

"Hi," he said to me.

"Hey," I said back to him.

"Did you sleep okay?" he said to me.

"Yeah. I actually got more than an hour sleep," I told him as I looked down at my sleeping baby.

"You want something to eat," he said.

"Yeah, I'm a little hungry," I told him.

"Come on. We can put him in swing that I have in the kitchen. And then I will make us something to eat," he said to me.

"A crib? A swing?" I said to him. "Are you telling me something?"

"No, I...I just had it around. You know,...just in case you two came for a visit," he said to me as I took Tyler out of his crib. I softly smiled as I carried my sleeping baby down the steps following Howie into the kitchen. I laid him in the swing and set it rocking before I sat down at the table as I watched Howie make us some sandwiches.

While we were eating, the two of us talked about the different things that had happened with him and the guys while I was gone. He was telling me about the last night of the guys' tour before the doorbell rang, which caused Tyler to wake up.

"I'll get the door," he said to me.

"I'll get the baby," I said before he left the kitchen. "Is my little baby hungry?" I said before softly picking him up and putting his pacifier back into his mouth before going into the fridge, where I found that Howie had put all of Ty's bottles that I had made him before we left Toronto. I put one into the microwave for a few seconds before testing it on my wrist. Perfect, I thought to myself before giving him his bottle.

"Holy crap, it's true," Brian said from behind me, halfway scaring me to death and causing Tyler to start to cry.

"Shh, it's okay. Brian Thomas, don't scare me like that," I told him as I turned to see him standing in the doorway. I softly went to sit back down as Nick came into the kitchen with Howie.

"Holy s**t," he said to me as he saw Tyler lying in my arms drinking from his bottle.

"Man, D, I'm having this effect on people that causes them to say that every time they see me," I told him. "Hello to you, too, guys."

"Is that really -" Brian said before stopping mid-sentence. He sat down in the chair beside me just staring at Tyler.

"Yes, Bri, this is your baby cousin, Tyler Scott," I told him as Tyler looked around the room with the same green eyes as his daddy.

"My gosh, he looks just like Kev," Nick said as he came over to me. "He's got a strong grip, too," he said as Tyler held onto his finger.

"Yup. He is a good kicker, too. I know because I went 4 months with this little thing kicking my insides around. Isn't that right? You liked kicking, mommy, didn't you?" I said to him. "You guys wanna hold him."

"Sure," Nick said to me before softly lifting him up with his bottle. "So, how old is he?"

"He will be five months on the 3rd," I told him.

"Five months? Wait a minute, that means that he was born -," he said but I stopped him.

"On Kevin's birthday. I know," I told him smiling as I watched as he talked with Tyler in baby talk before looking over to Brian, who was still sitting there in shock. "Bri, you okay?"

"Yeah, I...I'm fine," he said to me as I brought him out of his trance that he was in. "You haven't told him, have you?"

"No, I haven't," I told him.

"You know that he and Sarah are -" he said but I stopped him.

"Engaged. I know, I was upstairs when he announced it," I told him before sitting there silent for a few seconds until I heard Nick talk.

"Whoa," he said as he came into the room from the living room with Tyler, who was sleeping against his shoulder.

"What's wrong?" I asked him.

"Kev, AJ, Krisp, and Sarah just pulled in," he said to me before he handed me Tyler, so I could go upstairs.

"No, I'm not going to run," I told him as I held my little boy against my shoulder as he sleep.

"Are you sure?" Howie asked me.

"Yeah, I am. He needs to know," I told him before hearing the front door open.

"Yo, guys, are you here?" AJ yelled from the door. I was about to get mad at him because his yelling woke Tyler but Ty just kept on sleeping.

"In the kitchen," D said to them. Nick was standing in front of me that Kevin didn't even notice that I was in the room as they came in.

"Whoa, D, what's this doing in here?" Kev said as he saw Tyler's swing.

"That's...That's for -," he said but stopped as I spoke up.

"That's mine," I said to him as I got up causing Nick to move.

"Oh my god, Kaitlyn, what are you doing here? I thought that you left," he said to me not even noticing Tyler.

"I came back to visit Howie. And to tell you -" I told him but was interrupted by Sarah.

"Aah, whose the little baby?" she said to me.

"He's my son," I told her.

"Your son. Wait a minute, how old is he?" Kevin said to me.

"He's almost five months old, but he was born a month early," I told him.

"Kaitlyn, what's his name?" he said to me.

"Tyler Scott," I told him.

"No, his last name? What's his last name?" he asked me.

"Carpenter-Richardson," I told him. "I know what you are asking Kev. He is your son."

"Kev, what is she talking about?" Sarah asked him but he wasn't listening to her. "Kev? Kev?"

"Oh my gosh, I have a son," he said to me. "May I?"

"Sure," I said before laying Tyler into his arms. I know you would think that I would start crying from seeing my son interact with his dad but I stopped crying about that months ago. I softly put Tyler's pacifier back into his mouth as he slightly opened his eyes and looked up at Kevin.

"Sar, look at this. Sar? Sar, where did she go?" he said.

"She's in the living room," Krisp said to him. I could hear the sound of soft crying.

"Kev, let me talk to her," I told him before taking Tyler back into my arms. I went into the living room, where I saw Sarah sitting on the couch crying.

"Sarah? Sar, I'm sorry," I told her.

"Sorry about what?" she said to me.

"Listen, Sar, I didn't know the night that Tyler was made would happen. If I could go back into the past, I wouldn't change it because then I wouldn't have Tyler. Sarah, listen to me. I know that you think that Kevin loves me. Well, he does but...but only as the mother of his child. He loves you with something that I will never know. He loves you with his heart, mind, and soul," I told her as I sat down beside her.

"Kaitlyn, I'm sorry," she said after a few seconds of silence. "I guess that I was jealous of you."

"Don't be because I know that Kevin will never love me more than as his best friend and the mother of Tyler," I told her. "Any ways, I have my own guy that holds my heart."

"Thanks, Kait," she said to me. "May I ask you something?"

"Sure," I said to her.

"May I hold him?" she asked me.

"Of course," I told her before putting Tyler into her arms. As he was laying there, he softly yawned before opening his eyes.

"He has the same green eyes," she told me.

"I know," I told her as we both started to laugh.

**********

From that day on, we were great friends. I know you are probably wondering what happened after this. How about I tell you about each couple?

**Kevin and Sarah were married about six months after this story, in a beautiful ceremony on a beach in Hawaii. The two of them had a daughter, Kaitlyn Marie (named of course for me), and a son, Jerald Scott. Both of them knew about Tyler and accepted him as their older brother.

**Krisp and AJ eventually married, actually eloped in Las Vegas in 2001. They only have a son, Alex, Jr. named after his daddy.

**Brian eventually meet his soul mate, Laci, in December of 2000 at my wedding and were married the following December. They have three kids. Their twins are named Brian Thomas, Jr. and Devon Thomas. And their little girl is named Brianna Nicole.

**Nick also meet his soul mate, Crissy, in December of 2000 (also at my wedding) but they didn't marry until 2002 in a private ceremony on the beach behind Nick's home. The two of them have four kids with another on the way. But their kids are named Nick, Jr., Hailey Nicole, Jaime Marie, and Brian Nickolas.

**Well, as you guessed it, Howie and I got together and we were married on December 25, 2000. Well, what happened to Tyler and Kev's relationship? Well to this day, Tyler tells everyone that he has two dads (Howie and Kev). Along with Tyler, Howie and I have three kids of our own and, you guessed it, one on the way (actually two but I haven't told D about that yet). Our oldest is our daughter whose named Hayley Ann, our middle is our second daughter named Alexandra Jo, and our littlest one for another five months is our son, Corey Dwaine.
