Steve Hewitt

Date of birth: 22nd March 1971

Nationality: UK

Steve grew up in Northwich, near Manchester and despite gaining an apprenticeship with the Williams racing team he decided it was drumming that he wanted to concentrate on. He featured in several bands including one called the Electric Crayons which also featured Tim Burgess (The Charlatans). He has been in the Boo Radleys, Breed and a nineties dance outfit called K-Klass. It was during his time in Breed when his girlfriend introduced him to a friend of her's from college called Brian Molko. After meeting with Stefan and forming a band it was Steve who actually played on their early demos, but his commitments with Breed meant he was unable to continue. However, by the time Robert was asked to leave the band, Breed had split and Steve was working as a forklift truck driver in order to support his pregnant girlfriend, so he re-joined the group at the end of 1996.
