Billy Bragg: Philadelphia Penn's Landing July 18, 1992 With a BIG thanks to someone who shall remain nameless, this is a big favorite of the wife and I. Not only were we dating at the time, but this was our first BB show, and the person above got us backstage to meet the man. The sound onstage may have been bad, but the sound on this tape was great--crisp, clear, not a lot of mess. The only problem was the drops during #2, but these are from the board, not the tape, so there's not a lot you can do about it. This is directly from the master sb dat to a cassette. If you are not familiar with Billy and are stopping by to see what the crazy Panda guy has put up today, I urge you to get this. Billy was coming off the best run of albums he's ever had, and he was loaded with excellent original material; this is a great place to start. Cara and 'Wigs' helped keep the shows intimate in sound, but provide nice strength to the songs. The Blokes were a kickass band, but there's just something wonderful about this trio configuration. The covers at the end had everyone smiling and clapping, we were a happy laid back crowd. Notes: The speedboat mentioned was an asshole who would come over in his sexy Miami Vice boat and idle behind the stage and to the side so everyone could see how rich and cool he was. He'd move when security would threaten him, then come back 2 or 3 times. At the very end, two punky girls bolted onto the stage and gave Bill kisses on either cheek before security could eject them, hence his last words. sb>dat>cassette>cdr(0)>eac>flac.you 1.
