BIOGRAPHY

Neavus are a hard rock five piece band from Christchurch, New Zealand. Started by high school friends Alex Newfield (guitar, vocals), Tim Ruth (drums) and Crawford Robb (bass, vocals), Neavus spent their school years playing at rockquests and local girls high schools.

In their 7th form year they entered in a competition called the College Rock Charts in which they came 2nd. As part of the prize their song “Next To Me” received national airplay on Channel Z.

After the band left school Simon Mathews joined Neavus to take over on lead vocals which until then were being handled by Alex and Crawford. This added the spark the started the fire and Neavus spent most of 2002 writing new material and fine tuning their live show as well as making it to the Lion Red Battle of The Bands Canterbury semi finals along the way.

Neavus describe their sound simply as hard rock. It’s a big mixture of all of their influences which along with the fact that everybody in the band is self taught gives their music a unique and original taste.

All set and ready to rock 2003 is looking to be a busy year for the Neavus boys. They will be playing heaps more shows around Christchurch as well as touring the South Island later in the year.
