    Maggies Experience

I went to see the Goos LaborDay weekend in Canfield Ohio of 2000 . They were doing their sound check so I stood by and watched along with 15 or so other girls. We were so excited to see them and hear them talking to their crew. I was soo close but yet so far!! They would not come over to the gate. We stood there for almost 2 hours...freezing our butts off too. It was raining most of the day and then it turned really cold. Anyway, some of us had gifts and were yelling to Johnny and Robby to come over. They would wave from time to time. They would not walk over. It was almost time for the show so we went over to our seats. I was 2 rows back from the stage. They came on and my heart just melted. Johnny was leaning over the stage and all I can say is that his face is "A WORK OF ART". SOO beautiful!! I am getting ahead of myself. Before they came on stage I met a guy next to me who was really good friends with one of the guys on stage setting up. The guy on stage was Bill. Bill came over to where I was sitting to say hi to his friend. I had a gift for Johnny and I ask Bill if he would give it to him. He was really nice and said "NO PROBLEM". A few seconds later Bill came back over to me . My heart was beating. Bill said that Johnny appreciated the gift but he would not be using it. He said that someone else would be enjoying the gift. The gift I sent back was a bottle of Belvedere Vodka. I heard that Johnny liked drinking it on occassion because it did not give him a hangover the next day. Bill told me that Johnny was in AA. I felt soo bad. I told Bill to tell Johnny that I was so sorry about the Vodka. Bill said that Johnny was not upset. He just wanted me to know that he appreciated the thought. Bill said that he had to get going because they were ready to start in 5 min. I was so glad that Johnny was able to have my gift even if he wasn't going to enjoy it himself. I guess Johnny takes this AA thing one day at a time. I have read that he has drank since that concert. I feel bad for his struggle. During the first song Johnny took off one of his braclets and threw it right in my direction. I looked down in front of me and I couldn't see a thing. It was so dark and the ground was all dirt. I went to turn around and look behind my chair. Just as I was looking down, there was a girl behind my chair on the ground. She stood up and screamed!! She had that damm braclet in her hand that turned out to be underneath my chair!!! I wanted to cry. What could I do!! I seemed to have missed everything that night. The one thing I didn't miss was a great concert!! I am going to see the goo's next month. Maybe my luck will be better.

    • Thankyou Maggie for this Wonderful concert experience, but I'm sorry you didnt get to meet the Goo's. I'm sure they appreciated the gift though!!
