Your life is worse than Fiction Plane vocalist/guitarist Joe Sumner's. That's a scientifically provable fact. After all, your dad's not Sting. Joe's dad is Sting. You're not in a horribly uninteresting band that managed to get a hell of a record deal, despite the fact that they used to be called Santa's Boyfriend or some such crap. Joe is. You're not able to spectacularly fail at your creative endeavors and go back to one of dad's castles to sulk about it. Joe is. Therefore, we've proven that your life is worse than Joe Sumner's. But there's no way your band is worse than Joe Sumner's, as Fiction Plane seemed to have skimmed the bombast off of U2's most self-indulgent moments, combined them with the skittering frenzy of The Police, the melodic anonymity of Dave Matthews and some horrifying lyrics ("I am perfect, I don't exist/ In your stupid human world") and topped it off with a healthy dose of can't-carry-a-tune-in-a-bucket.
