Fiction Plane
Everything Will Never Be OK
MCA Records
This debut CD by Fiction Plane shows the group to be composed of fantastic musicians. These are not shallow songs; they are wonderfully arranged instrumentals underneath meaningful vocals from the heart.
Singer Joe Sumners' heart is definitely on his sleeve, but it's such a beautiful shirt, it doesn't seem out of place.
The title track is a magnificent song that deals with the cynical outlook people generally have about their lives. "Everything Will Never Be OK" shows true human nature, especially in a line like, "I'm waiting for the day that I don't have to work and love will satisfy my impatience."
A lot of the tracks on the album sound deceptively upbeat until you listen to the lyrics, which always have a message for those that want to hear it.
Fiction Plane shows that it is more than just another band with pretty, radio-friendly songs for the masses to mindlessly hum along to.
Yes, you will find yourself singing along, but you will also find yourself thinking about the words that are coming out of your mouth.
