"So, how is so-called business going?" I asked curiously, as I thumbed through a fashion magazine, sipping on my hot chocolate. Christy rolled her eyes.
"Same as always." She said shortly. I raised my eyebrow.
"What crawled up your ass and died?" I joked. Christy glared at me. Surprised, I held up my hands in my own defense. "I was joking Chris! Seriously, what's up with you?"
She sighed and set down her coffee. I looked at her, concered.
"I just don't know what to do with my life anymore...I'm not happy doing this. I'm jealous of...." She trailed off. I was confused.
"Jealous of....?" I continued for her. She sniffled and let out a nervous laugh.
"You Laur, duh! Who else?" She cried out. I opened my eyes wide, in shock.
"Me?" I gasped. My forehead creased in confusion. "Why the hell would you be jealous of me?" I spat out. Christy folded her hair behind her ears.
"You have talent, you're beautiful, you have the best boyfriend in the world." She wailed, grabbing a tissue.
I was clearly shocked.
"Christy...." I soothed her, placing my hand on her shoulder. "I'm not putting my talent into use, I'm sure as hell not beautiful, and he's not my boyfriend." Christy blew into the tissue.
"He will be." She whined. I sighed.
"Christy you are a great person. An awesome friend, YOU are gorgeous, and you have all the time in the world to find someone." I cooed. She looked up at me, I smiled at her. She smiled back.
"Thanks Laur...I needed some compliments." She grumbled, I laughed.

"I miss you..." I murmured through the phone.
"I miss you more." He teased, I closed my eyes as I listened to his soft laugh.
"What have you been up to?" I asked.
"Just work, work and oh of course, work!" He said huffily. I giggled at him.
"You never did tell me what you do for a living..." I realized. Nick was quiet for a few minutes. "Nick?" I repeated.
"I'm in the music business." He stated. I blew on my nails to make them dry faster.
"Cool." I said simply.
"I'm in a band..." He started again. "A popular one." Now I was curious.
"Oh?" I said nonchalantly. "What band would that be?" I asked as I bit back a grin. I heard him breath in quickly.
"thebackstreetboys." He said quickly. I laughed.
"Riiiiight Nick, like I could actually understand a single word you're saying!" I said with a wry smile. "Come on Nick, I'm not going to freak out!"
"The Backstreet Boys..." He said quietly.
I thought for a minute, I didn't watch T.V. often, but hey, I live in New York City, of course I knew who the Backstreet Boys were. I started to laugh when I realized I was dating one of the most sought after guys in America. No, make that the world!
"What are you laughing about?" He inquired curiously.
"Nothing." I replied. "I've heard your music, I didn't know you lived in New York, though."
"Well....I don't." He stated.
"Huh?" Now I was confused, he had taken me to his apartment!
"I live in Florida all year round, but since I'm in New York most often when I'm away, I decided to buy a place here." He explained.
'A place here?' I thought to myself. Oh, of course....He's a Backstreet Boy. He probably has a place in every state.
I looked up as Christy walked in the door. We had planned to watch movies that night instead of, to put it lightly, fuck strangers. And Christy had gone out to get them.
"Hey Nick, I gotta get going." I told him.
"Whhyyy?" He whined.
"Because I've got plans for tonight." I informed him.
"Plans?" He asked curiously. "What are you doing tonight? Not going out with some other guy are you?" He joked. Then he was quiet. "Oh yeah, your job...." He trailed off.
"Well no not my job, I'm taking a break from that for tonight. Christy and I are going to have a movie night." I explained. "Nick, about my job..." I started.
"Mmhmm.." He mumbled. I frowned.
"I know we've only gone on one date, but you do realize you did date a hooker." I said quietly.
"Of course I realize that. And I did not date you, I am dating you. And you're not a hooker...you're a....." He didn't know how to word it, I laughed lightly. "An Entrepenuer!" He said finally, I threw back my head as I laughed. Nick laughed with me.
"I wish, Nick." I giggled. "Anyways, Christy is getting impatient." Nick sighed.
"Aww, fine. I'll call you tomorrow, ok? Maybe we can do something..." He suggested.
"Sure thing, Talk to you then Nick." I finished.
"See ya!" I heard him say, as I clicked off the phone, and threw it onto the other bed.
"Okay!" I clapped my hands. "Time for the movies!"
************
"Christy?" I asked quietly, as the last movie finished. She looked up at me tiredly, and mumbled a 'mmhmm'
"I'm dating Nick, and I screw guys every night. Is that..cheating on him?" I asked innocently. Christy smiled lightly.
"It would be, normally. But this is a little different. It's your job and you have to." She explained. I nodding, chewing on my candy. "Of course...It doesn't have to be your job." She hinted.
"Don't start." I warned her, stretching out on my bed.
"Fine." She snarled. "You should pick your future before it picks you." She advised.
I groaned from my spot on the bed, but I couldn't help but wonder. What she said was true, if I didn't get out there and to what I wanted to do, then this would become a life long job.
