Cliff Burton



Cliff Burton was born on February 10, 1962 in Castro Valley, California. Cliff joined the band as their second bassist in 1982 after the band was not pleased how their first bassist, Ron McGovney was performing. With the band, Cliff created the albums Kill 'Em All, which featured his magnificent Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth, Ride The Lightning, and Master of Puppets, which included his awesome work on Orion.

After a show on September 26, 1986, the band was traveling by bus in Stockholm, Sweden when the members were woke up by a sudden jolt when they realized they were on the bus' side.

Kirk Hammett, who was knocked unconscious by the accident, became conscious and saw the limp, lifeless body of Cliff trapped under the bus. Cliff Burton died that morning at approximately 6:30 am on September 27, 1986.
