History: Taking their name from a children's book, Good
Charlotte is the brainchild of the Madden twins who wrote songs as a form
of escape. Signing to Epic in 2000, they are currently one of the states'
hottest acts.
2003 is their year 'cos: "We don't rely on magazines
to tell us the music's good, we have the fans to do that for us,"
states bassist Paul and he's not wrong. On their second trip over to this
country, they played to packed-out UK shows and made it their mission to
meet every fan. "That's why the kids like us, because they get to see
how real we are," reveals Benji. "We've always been the
underdog," maintains Benji -well maybe it's about time this canine
revealed its teeth! "I'll be honest, I want to be rich," admits
Benji. "I don't want my mum to have to work anymore, we grew up poor
and believe it or not, there are a lot of rich punk-rockers out
there and they're the first to say, 'Why did you sign a major deal?' They
don't understand because their daddy pays for everything."
Plans: Their latest album 'The Young and the Hopeless' will hit the
streets February 4 through Epic.
