Leela Ganey, dubbed the Slacker Princess by fellow Savage Garden Slash maven Camilla Maverick, was diagnosed with cancer late in the year of 2000. Her long struggle with the disease showed ups and downs, but despite any trouble she may have had, she stayed true to herself. She was, in essence, the most relaxed person I ever had the opportunity of meeting.

During her brief stint as a regular member of ADeeperMeaning, she made herself widely known and recognized as a slash conesseur. She even branched into other fandoms, and was equally eloquent with fic featuring U2 and Placebo, among others. She loved Ewan McGregor and Coldplay and herbal tea. She was a Savage Garden fan from the beginning, back in 1997. She holds more than a place in my heart, she has earned my respect as a beautiful human being and a wonderfully talented author.

I thought she was getting better.

Leela died from her cancer on Tuesday, May 21. In its short history, this is the second death that ADeeperMeaning has had to go through, and though I was not as close to Dragonfly as I was to Leela, I know that the rest of the list is equating their deaths with the most severe mourning possible.

Leela, we will not forget you. And I know, if you can see me right now, you're probably telling me that I've put forth far too much effort. Well, I raise a mug of tea to YOU, Leela, and wish you the happiest of all imagination.
