A Night's Tale

"I'm a writer! I give the truth scope!" ~Chaucer, "A Knight's Tale"

Title being blatantly stolen from the movie I have a terrible sore spot for...Chaucer's a mighty awesome writer, if a bit heavy handed...and Paul Bettany is excellently slashable with William, if you've seen the movie. Why isn't there more Knight's Tale fanfic out there? Oh, look, a tangent.

Disclaimer: I don't own them, of course, though I wish I did. Own the plot. Imitation is the highest form of compliment. With apologies to Lewis Caroll.
Notes: For those not too connected with United States History, this takes during the Roarin' 1920s, when gangsters ruled all major cities and the 18th Amendment (Prohibition, all cities dry of alcohol) was still around. Think "The Great Gatsby" without the greek tragedy. With special thanks to Madame D for her late night talks while I looked up the geography of 1900s Chicago. To everyone...consider this a Karl Redemptionista fic.
