Hi Jeff:

I understand you are assistant to Mr. Gregart, the Prosecuting Attorney in your area. It would be very much appreciated if you could share a thought with him. Please advise him that the news regarding "Lucy", the spaniel dog that was inexcuseably abused by Dr. Ginsberg (and I use that term loosely), has traveled now internationally and across the internet to all corners of our United States.

I will be sending my feelings and requests by snail mail when I have gathered a few more facts on exactly what has and has not been done thus far. At that time I will also phone Michigan State Attorney General-Health Professional Division. It is my understanding he is in review of 7 open "license to practice" cases at this time. It would be to his credit were he to set this case up for prosecution at this time.

I urge you to strongly encourage Attorney Gregart to proceed with prosecution re Dr. Stephen Ginsberg, who abused "Lucy", a dog that was brought to him with a "broken back", the owner requested Lucy be put to sleep; however, Dr. Ginsberg took it upon himself to leave this dog in "excruciating pain" in a kennel to be "experimented" with later - "when he had time". During this time Lucy fell from her cage and was "smacked" (backhandedly) by Dr. Ginsberg for "crying".

Jeff, this dog was defenseless. What type of man hides behind the power of a "certificate of graduation" from a university giving him rights to "pretend" to be a good, caring and qualified veterinarian and uses that power to "hit", "smack", "kick" animals that are in pain and crying? Bigger bullies than Dr. Ginsberg have been pulled down to the level where they belong - in jail. If it takes a showing in your state then so be it.

I would strongly express (and I will) to Attorney Gregart that the penalty to Stephen Ginsberg, with all due justice kept in mind, would be to have his veterinary license removed (not suspended) but taken away, a term in jail for proven ongoing abuse to the animals people entrusted to his care, and a hefty fine to be paid to the State, to which he has misrepresented as a professional and placed a "black eye" on Kalamazoo, Michigan. Also I feel Lisa Marie Tabor (the technician who witnessed this abuse and later lost her job for speaking up to Dr. Ginsberg) should be compensated for her losses (i.e. Lisa Tabor adopted Lucy and tried to nurse this dog back to health, injuries were beyond her ability to heal.) Lisa Tabor should be reimbursed for medical expenses; pain and suffering for the loss of a "hopeful" pet and the major fact of loss of income for "speaking the truth" and trying to help Lucy and other animals in Ginsbergs' office.

The facts on the mentality of this vet are further supported by the "Sunday, November 28, 1999 edition of the Kalamazoo Gazette. (State Probes Against Kalamazoo Veterinarian). Dr. Ginsberg stated:

"With an open hand, I hit him on the side of his chest trying to get him to lay down . . . adding that the dog had a broken back, was in pain and was unable to lay down to receive treatment. I hit him right by the front legs, as soon as I did, it stopped crying." "I'll use an open had and hit them sometimes. I've slapped dogs sometimes when they try to bite. But I don't believe I've been abusive to any dogs."

Jeff I appreciate your time in reading this email. I will be following up with a letter to the Attorney General of Michigan-Health Division in Lansing and Prosecuting Attorney Gregart in Kalamazoo.

Respectfully,
Karen Perry Hall, Maryland
