Blank-Wave Arcade
review from The Big Takeover
Post punk New Wave taking some of the best elements of both into a
new realm of dance-o-matic keyboard wailings and pop crackling guitar. If Duran Duran
sounded like this, I might have enjoyed them more. The vocals croon
like some evil Simon Le Bon, but the dark edge of the melody keeps the dance from going
too far. Makes me wonder what Modest Mouse would sound like if they started listening to
a lot of Kraftwerk. Some of it sounds
almost too retro, but the band manages to keep they style sounding fresh. It's not like other
let's rehash the past attempts, it's taking the inspiration to a point where all you can see is
the future.
