Blank-Wave Arcade
review from Summer Salts
Consider me officially in love with this band. The Faint recall fond memories
of my favorite 80s band, Duran Duran, mixed with a chaotic punk aesthetic. Crazy synth
swirls, electronic drums, rockin' guitar and sassy vocals complete the 80s nostalgia
package, but push it one step further. The songwriting is brilliant and catchy, but not cliché.
The lyrics are witty, but not pretentious. THREE songs have the word 'sex' in the title ("Sex
is Personal," "Worked Up so Sexual," and "Casual Sex") !!! I can't think of one thing I
don't like about this album. If you appreciated groups like Duran Duran or the Pet Shop
Boys in even the smallest way, check out the Faint. Even the packaging rules. If I say
anything more about liking this band, I'm going to get arrested or something.
Plus: the Faint kick it old school!
Minus: this cd is too short
