NEWS
29TH NOVEMBER 2002
The Dawn Parade's second UK tour reached the end of its final road in Norwich on the final Thursday in November. This was the tour of service station coffee machines in the small hours, guerrana Boosts and red Kitkats, lounge floors in the midlands and fog on the south coast, hired automatics that won't get out of fourth-frikkin-gear, too-brief reunions, and too many nights off. But no matter; a twelve headed monster of a tour commences in Brighton on Monday January 6th 2003, taking in Scotland, Wales and, er, Driffield. Dates are on the gigs page.
The CAFFEINE ROW EP finally has its release date. It's in all good and evil record stores from January 27th, and features "Caffeine Row", "Wider Than The January Skies" and "Fairytale Rehab". We were keen to release a real winter single, one that captures the heartbreak of the British alarm clock on January mornings. John Peel has taken to opening his show with it. Long may such things last.
Incapable of spending a night in, Greg plays a bunch of acoustic gigs in December, including a brief appearance at the R*EP*E*A*T* Christmas bash on December 27th. That one's at The Portland Arms, Cambridge.
Aside from that, we are aiming to spend December incapable in a gutter, making ourselves sick, watching girls in Suffolk and Bristol, putting Fairytale of New York on every jukebox we encounter, and scouring the Radio Times for The Snowman, The Muppets Christmas Carol and Watership Down.

The Caffeine Row EP is released 27th January on Sugartown Records, and the band tours the UK for eight weeks in January and February. The Dawn Parade’s XFM session is broadcast in January, and the band’s second John Peel session goes out live on March 5th.
2002 has been a fantastic year for the band, taking in almost a hundred gigs, three tours, extensive Radio One airplay, a Peel session, and appearances on ITV and Channel 4. The “Electric Fence Your Gentleness” EP, touted as “very excellent” by Rolling Stone, was released in July, climbing into Rocksound’s critics’ favourites list. In September, The Dawn Parade were selected as one of the highlights of 2002’s In The City.
