History and Bios

Terraplane, a blues band from Hobart, Tasmania, Australia has been playing for more than 10 years. The line up changed in June 2007 when Drummer, Mike Buscombe returned to his home city of Melbourne. As chance would have it the Drummer that Mike replaced in 1996, Andrew Hall had returned to Hobart and was available. So things continue as usual and Terraplane is still a regular at The New Sydney Hotel and varous other venues in Hobart.

Pat Tilley: Ex California, Canberra and then Hobart, Pat brings a true International flavour to the Band. His Vocals, with just a hint of that Californian accent, really push out the blues just the way it was supposed to be sung. Pat also plays a mean Blues Harmonica, Saxophone and Guitar.

Michael Davie: A Homegrown Tassie boy, Michael plays lead guitar like a natural. His fingers ply his Strat's neck with taste and speed - a pleasure to listen to.

David Scott: There are not too many Bass Players that can actually get notes from a tea chest bass! David is one of them but no he doesn't play the tea chest with Terraplane. His electric bass combines with Mike on Drums to form a tight rhythm section second to none in Tasmania.

Mike Buscombe: A tight and experienced Drummer from Melbourne Mike paid his dues in the tough competitive rock scene in that city during the seventies - later moving to Tasmania where he continued to hone his skills in various bands around Hobart.

Recent Years

A support act at The Republic for Lynwood Slim and Kirk Fletcher from the USA early in 2001, really established Terraplane as a Blues force in Hobart. The few hundred locals who packed it out, got quite a surprise to hear a local band mix it with the best of them.

Terraplane's performance at The Taste of Tasmania in Jan 2001 received rave reviews from locals, interstate and international visitors alike as their Taste performance did again in 2002 and 2005.

Their International debut performance at The Hard Rock Hotel in Bali in September 2001 was sensational. Playing with "John March and The Circuitbreakers" an L.A. based band made up of very talented and experienced session musicians and damn nice guys, Terraplane proved they are a Blues Band of International standard. Have a look at the bottom of this site for some Bali pictures.
