Dwayne Toombs & Zeus Williams, two Widespread Panic
fans from Tennessee, came to visit Paris on May 17.
Marti & I really enjoyed hanging out with them . . .

Dwayne & Zeus arrived on Thursday afternoon. We all went to late
lunch at a sidewalk café in Place Cambronne. Zeus quickly struck an
Existentialist's pose while Dwayne tore into his
croque madame.

Marti & I walked the guys down to the Eiffel Tower, where they rode to the top.
Afterwards Marti headed home. Dwayne, Zeus & I started making our way to
what has become something of a shrine for Spreadheads, the Chesterfield Café.
We caught Mark Selby's smokin' set. Jim, his manager, gave copies of
More Storms Comin', Mark's new CD, to each of his fellow Tennesseans!

On Friday the boys went sightseeing on their own. Then Saturday
we all went to lunch in the 'hood, at the Tabac de la Mairie.

Next Marti & I took Dwayne & Zeus to see the sights!

Two of the most popular Parisian attractions: Notre Dame &
Jim Morrison's grave. We also dropped by Jim's apartment
(he wasn't home) & paid
hommage to the 19th-Century
Hashish Eaters Club on the Ile Saint-Louis,
just as the Lizard King liked to do.

After a pot of
chai at Thé Troc, we strolled through Menilmontant,
stopping for a delicious couscous dinner at a little restaurant at
the corner of rue St-Maur & rue Jean-Pierre Timbaud. We capped
our evening at the Trocadero, peeping at the sparkling
Tour Eiffel.

On Sunday afternoon I burned discs for
Dwayne & Zeus to bring to Ralph Metzger
at
Playin' In The Band III -- next weekend's
German Deadhead gathering in Plauen.
The guys left late in the afternoon,
bound for Rome.
We all had a
very groovy time!
