Almost Surreal

So, precisely what...?

What can Almost Surreal do for your club?

For starters, we won't blow anyone out the door... I've spent too many years playing in various metal bands to enjoy hearing "you're good musicians, but it's just too damn loud"! We've played in many different size rooms and settings, from coffee shops to large clubs, and adjust our volume and overall show accordingly.

Next, we can tailor the show to the musical preferences of the audiences. You can check out the set list for more details, but we do over 120 songs by artists as diverse as Shania Twain, Bruce Springsteen, and Jewel. From country to MTV Unplugged, we're flexible with set lists and welcome requests! Our original material is decidedly alt/pop, with meaningful lyrics and percussive rhythms, capitalizing on 15 years of guitar playing and strong vocal harmonies.

Surreal uses an 8 channel, 2x200 watt Peavey mixer to power tripod-mounted, 300 watt 2-way Electro-Voice speakers for the house-(see above)-and a CGM monitor system. We use what we call "mood lighting": 8 par 56, 300 watt cans with gels, also tripod-mounted, for a "surreal" ambiance.

Luke plays a Takamine EF-341C cutaway, with an Epiphone back-up, and Kathleen & Luke both use Samson microphones. We run the guitar through a DOD effects processor and a L. R. Baggs preamp/EQ/direct box to the mixer, to eliminate uncontrolled stage volume, and use the PA mixer with dual 9-band EQ's to mix the sound.

So what do we charge? A few variables... We start at $100, and charge up to $300 depending on variables like other local gigs, PA equipment needed, and holidays.

Why so economical? If you haven't picked this up yet, we like to play! The biggest satisfaction in music is to reach an ever-increasing audience, whether through recordings or live performances, so we enjoy any opportunity.

Thanx!
