The Story of Stacy and Spitfire...

Stacy Spitfire was born in October 98. Their name refers to the only 2 things men think of : women and cars. Stijn Durinck and Koen Maes (ex-Fish, melodious pop/rock) and Ward Bogaert and Herman Peeters (ex-The Try, cover band) put their heads together and start to write their own songs. Their style varies from rock and ballads to blues. The result is astonishing. They perform their first gig in January 99, at “Afspanning Den Engel” in Wanzele where they flatter the crowd with ten fantastic songs. Stacy calls it her “avant-avant-premier”. Stacy Spitfire played the warming-up for the concerts of “The Magical Flying Thunderbirds”, the notorious cover band. Stacy Spitfire continue composing new songs, to extend their play list. In the meantime (October 99), Fanny Heyndrickx (ex-Nooly, a punk band) joins the band. In December of the same year, Stacy Spitfire is ready to record their first demo CD in a studio near Brussels. In 2000 they start to raise their experience on stage. They perform as supporting act for The Sheila Divine, Belgian Associality, Red Zebra, De Kreuners, and many others. They reached the final of “De Nacht van de Zottegemse Rock”, a famous rock rally, to which more than 30 bands participated. Stacy Spitfire won the prize of the audience and got very positive feedback. 2001 started enormously well : in February they participated to the Oostvlaams Rockconcours. One month later, in March, a dream came true : Stacy performed on the main stage of one of Belgium’s most famous concert hall : Ancienne Belgique! The same month, they were selected for Girls on Stage. In autumn, Stacy records her first mini-album "Platonic". |
