WELCOME to my new web site dedicated to the greatest band of the 60’s THE SMALL FACES. Deep Joy! Firstly I would like to tell you a bit about myself and how I came to get into the band (WARNING:may cause drowsiness) My name is Andrew Spencer aged eighteen from Crewe, Cheshire. The first record I ever heard from the Small Faces was the one and only TIN SOLDIER. I found it whilst messing around in the attic at home(where I shouldn’t have been) at the age of fifteen amongst my dad’s old record collection-not a bad find eh! I placed it onto the Dansette record player and after Steve’s one, two, three, four right the way through to Kenny’s signature drum ending I was instantly hooked. From here I have not been able to stop collecting Small Faces material and have quite a large collection for an eighteen year old. Some people may think it’s sad for an eighteen year old to be into the Small Faces , or any sixties music for that matter. The fact is that the sixties music is far better to listen to and is origional in both sound and professional qualities.

I also play the organ in a band and we write our own material but base our work around the Small Faces incorporating four of their masterpieces into our set:

I don’t know but I am sure I speak for the majority of Small Faces fans that the Marriott/Lane songwriting partnership was very undermined to that of Lennon/McCartney, Jagger/Richards etc and I believe that Marriott and Lane and indeed McLagan wrote some of the most influencial songs for the times which have indeed set the scene for the bands of today including the band I am in.

My influence for playing the organ is of course the master of the Hammond Ian'Mac'Mclagan. I have to say that Mac is absolutely in my view the best Hammond player that I have heard(once I heard Mac I didn't want to listen to anyone else!) My main ambition is to meet the man himself though I have not yet had the chance but hopefully he will be at one of the next Small Faces conventions!
