The Sheffield musician will marry sweetheart Lauren Anne Monroe in California at the end of their American tour just eight days before the pair, accompanied by the rest of the band, fly to the UK for ten British dates. Yesterday the famous rockers kicked off their 33-date tour of America in Cincinnati, Ohio. Rick's mum Kathleen and step-dad Jim Daly, who have just returned from visiting their son in the States, say they are looking forward to attending the October 10 nuptials, along with scores of other family and friends.
Kathleen, of Stannington, said: "They have been planning it for about a year now so it is very exciting. We have picked our outfits already and can't wait for the big day!"
California-based Rick, who has a daughter from a previous marriage, met fiancee Lauren at a healing practice in Colorado three years ago and together they run the Raven Drum Foundation, a charity they formed to help the less able-bodied through beat-related music.
After Rick lost his left arm in a near fatal car accident on New Year's Eve 1984 he received tremendous support from his family, band members and fans.
On return trips to Sheffield, through the Raven Drum Foundation, the millionaire musician makes special efforts to visit patients at the Weston Park Hospital.
The British leg of the band's tour starts on October 18 in Edinburgh. They will play at the Doncaster Dome on Monday October 27.
