Metal Edge

September 6, 2000

DEF LEPPARD put their hands--and in the case of drummer Rick Allen, one hand and one foot--in cement on Tuesday, joining the pantheon of music greats in Hollywood's RockWalk outside Guitar Center. A large crowd of fans and media types were on hand to see the multi-platinum British band, who were introduced by QUEEN's BRIAN MAY, accept the honor, which included a certificate proclaiming it Def Leppard Day by the Mayor of Los Angeles. Also there to witness the moment were friends like musicians TONY FRANKLIN and STEVE LUKATHER and family members including RICK ALLEN's adorable daughter LAUREN (who put her tiny handprint next to her dad's) and PHIL COLLEN's wife ANITA (they wed quietly a few months ago but will have a big party at a later date). Afterward, the band, which flew in to Los Angeles on a day off between tour dates in Sacramento, California and Spokane, Washington (the tour runs through the end of the month), accomodated the press with interviews.
