Caesar

Caesar is most like the person who rides his bike without a helmet and doesn't pay attention to surrounding traffic, convinced that he won't get hurt. He dismisses fears and believes himself invincible. Though for a time bad omens made Caesar waver between going to the senate and staying at home, he says that, "Caesar should be a beast witout a heart,/ If he should stay at home to-day for fear" (II,ii,42). Caesar would be nothing if people perceived him as fearful. Besides, he was invincible, wasn't he? His own wife, Calpurnia, tells him, "Your wisdom is consumed in confidence" (II, ii, 49). Caesar's overconfidence, or lack of fear, hinders his judgment. In truth, he is not invincible. Perhaps if he had listened to his fears, Caesar might have lived.

An actor playing Caesar should play him as arrogant and overconfident. His inflated ego should be emphasized at all times. To illustrate his feelings of importance, Caesar should be big and extravagant in his dress and in everything he does.
