Written By : Tyler First, the reveiw. I got the c.d. the first day it came out, when they first started putting it on the shelves at the Best Buy in Okemos, Michigan. The c.d. is awesome, its melodic, hard hitting, depressing, and energetic all at the same time. The vocals flow together like clockwork, and they flow right into the song like it was natural. If one member of the band wasn't there, it wouldn't work, and each song wouldn't be as great as it is. From the vocalist abilities of Chester and Mike, to the killer guiter rifs, the d.j. joe is ten times better then Limp Bizkits d.j. Lephal, and the even the drummer knows what hes doing. I also heard from your own website that they have a bassist now, you know hes gotta be good to become a member of Linkin Park! In closing i would like to say that the fact that Linkin Park isn't as big as bands like Korn, Godsmack, Limp Bizkit, or tool is beyond me but i have a feelin that they'll have their time, and soon. Now for the concert reveiw and the part about meeting the band. I didn't actually meet the whole band, just chester and either the drummer or the guitarist, they kind of look alike. I moved to Pasadena with a friend of mine a few months ago under circumstances i wish not to mention, and with the help of our boss and some incredibly long string pulling we were able to get the same job we both had in Lansing, Michigan, which was setting up stages for local bands, and a few major ones. A few weeks later we were in a club setting up stage when i asked one of the bookers whos playing tonight? He said a weird band named Linkin Park. I dunno if this was before or after they inked with Warner Bros. but i had never heard of em. Regardless i wrote their name down in my book of bands, which was a list of bands i had set up stage for in the past, including some autographs from Fred Durst, Eminem, DR. Dre and a few more. Anyway when they got on stage they looked weird, and i thought their songs were also weird at first, but the more i listened to the songs, the more i got into them. They were playing some songs that are not on the Hybrid Theory album, i beleive they are on the rare Hybrid Theory EP which i might add was on sale at that concert and i regret not buying it! anyway the concert was awesome, Chester looked like his head was about to explode a few times he was getting so into the song. And Mike was energetic and was full of emotion just as much, if not more than Chester. i also noticed their were six guys instead of five, must of been one of those road bassists i heard about that played with them but wasn't officially a member of the band. Anyway it was incredible how the fans were getting into the songs, but when they played one step closer......lets just say im glad i was backstage because i probably woulda got stomped on! After the show i went to the bathroom to take a major leak, i had to go since thebeginning but i didn't want to miss anything so i held it in. Anyway, when i was done i went up to wash my hands when who walks in? CHESTER BENNINGTON!!!!! He came in the bathroom to wash the sweat off his face. After i got done washing my hands i turned to him and asked "aren't you the lead singer of that band that was just on stage, linkin parts?" That was not a typo, thats the way i said it and thats the way its written down in my book, i felt so stupid after Chester corrected me and laughed. Then he asked me what i thought of the show, i said it rocked, and he just smiled and laughed. He told me it was ok for getting the name of the band wrong, hes just now getting used to it, and explained how their original name was Hybrid Theory and why they had to change it, something about a legal problem with the name or somethin, and he explained why they changed it to linkin park, i can't remember what he said about that cuz i could barely understand him with his hands in his face ( he was still washing the sweat off his face ). Anyway after that either the drummer or the the guitarist ( i still get those 2 confused ) walked in and said they had to go, Chester said aight and turned to me shook my hand and left. It wasn't a big deal at the time but when i moved back to Lansing and saw the one step closer video on m.t.v., i nearly passed out when i saw Chesters face on the t.v., i had to sit down! that was the coolest thing that ever happened to me in my life even over meeting the lead singers of Korn, Limp Bizkit, and even Eminem! I will never forget that day. Now for the cool thing that is Linkin Park related. There is actually a couple things. First off, after i got the c.d. i played it 6 times before the day was through. I played it once for my friend that i moved to Pasadena with. I reminded him about that night and how i met Chester. He went out that same day and baught 4 copies! 1 for the house, one for the car, one for just walking around, and one for his sister, which was their when i played it and said she liked it ( her birthday was the next day ). I showed the rest of my friends, and he showed his friends, and they showed their friends, now the whole city of Lansing is into Linkin Park, even the guys that only like Hip HOp or Rap! Ok now for the other thing that i thought was cool. I went and seen Little Nicky the other day and when they started playing "points of authority" in the movie i screamed "LINKIN PARK RULES"!!!!!! As loud as i could, and the whole theater screamed "HELL YEA"!!!!!!! Back. It really burned me how they didn't play the whole song though, i was mad about that all day long! |
