Fallon Bowman was born on November 16, 1983 in South Africa to Dutch and Indonesian parents. She and her family moved to London, Ontario (Canada), where she spent most of her life growing up.

When young Fallon was only about six, she was a devoted fan of Mariah Carey. "I would sit in our basement and sing along to her records, pretending this spark plug was a microphone." she recalls. "I'm not a fan of her stuff now, but she was my first connection to making music, and i gotta give her props."

Fallon's biggest inspiration to pick up the guitar was front man of Nirvana, Kurt Cobain. "I lost my heart and soul to Nirvana when I was 12." she remembers. She also says she admires him because "he wasn't afraid to show his fragility--in fact, that was part of his strength."

She and Mercedes met in 1997 in their gymnastics class where they began talking about Kurt Cobain's death and soon realized that they shared similar musical tastes. With Tanya Candler on bass and vocals, Morgan (Mercedes' older sister) on lead vocals and guitar, Mercedes on drums, and Fallon on guitar, they began jamming together and Kittie was formed.
