Sun 22 Dec. Sorry for lack of updates everyone (anyone?!).. just letting ya know there's a nice post-Xmas, pre-New Year's gig on Sat 28th Dec at the Evelyn in Melbourne. Enjoy it and your own holidays!!
Wed 9
Oct Even though the band are
very busy crossing their fingers for the announcement of the Best Independent
Release Aria for 'Rain Hail Shine', they've still managed to find time to pencil
in a few more gigs in their busy tour diary. They're all listed on the gigs
page. Those in Melbourne should note that Friday night's show is a
particularly special one, as it's a benefit gig, so you should all go
along and support REACH.
p.s. did you notice how I seamlessly combined two pieces of news into the one
bite-sized paragraph?? Nice...
p.p.s. There are literally hundreds of glowing reviews of the new album and some
great interviews which have all been published over the last couple of months.
We'll put them up soon, I promise!
Wed 4 Sept THE ALBUM IS OUT.....repeat.....THE ALBUM IS OUT....and the good news is that it's great! Go buy it at Gaslight to get your name on the list for an invite to a special release party! Oh, and if you don't want to take my word for it, go to the reviews page and see what glowing things Beat had to say about it.
Fri 23
Aug Yeah sorry guys it's been a
little while between updates. And this update isn't really going to make up for
that. But we do have a little news for you, being release date and gigs. First
of all, 'Broken UFO' will be released in all good record stores on September 2
2002. And even better, according to the fine Rubber Records, "and as a special
promotion for the first 2000 copies sold at retail, you could receive a limited
edition bonus disc, featuring the single mix of 'Beautiful Fields' (now playing
at radio), along with the bold experiment, "Highlights from 'Broken UFO' Parts 1
& 2". Inspired by Brian Wilson, the intrepid Icecream Hands try in five
minutes to merge the album's vocal and other cheesy highlights into one seamless
track." Sounds.. well interesting to say the least! RR also report that ICH are
going to be all over Triple J that week, with a Live At The Wireless on Monday
2nd September, and Chuck will grace the Oz Music show with his presence on the
Wednesday night after 10pm.
There's a nice little tour to keep the kids on
the east coast happy, so check the gigs page for more details...
Over and
out.
Fri 17 May Well it looks like there's a bona fide tour in the works kids! Some may even like to call it a national tour of sorts.. well it does encompass 3 states out of six, so maybe we'll call it 'the half national tour'. That'll do. If you want to see if your state has won the chance to see Hands strut their stuff have a look at the Gigs page for more details. For those in old Melbourne town, don't forget the show on tomorrow evening!
Fri 10 May Chuck's performing a solo show this Sunday and there's a rumour of a show with Klinger. See Gigs page for details.
Thu 2
May It's just so exciting!! Our collective minds have
overloaded with joy here at ICH central, with 3 incredibly important news items
being brought to out attention. Those in Melbourne (or indeed Australia) should
clear their calenders for Sat May 18 for the long awaited return of the Icecream
Hands to the live stage at the Cornish Arms in Brunswick. As always, it'll be a
gig of a lifetime and apparently the guys are even contemplating rehearsals for
this special event. This will keep everyone going until June 17 when "Why'd You
Have To Leave Me This Way?" gets its moment in the spotlight as the latest
single from the forthcoming album. Which we are to understand is titled "Broken
UFO", though we still don't have a release date for that as yet. However, one
would assume that a single and a gig are two good signs at least for it to hit
shelves in the near future.
How are we going to cope with so much
happening??
Album News:
More insider goss from another ICH horse's mouth, this time
Mr Marcus Goodwin with an update on the new album: "We have finished 99% of the
recording of the new, as yet untitled, album, with mixing scheduled to be
completed by mid-March. We have put down 16 tracks:
Because you're young,
Come down come down, Leaving all the best, Head down#, The show is over%,
Waterproof, Happy in the Sky%, Look at you now#, and Sometimes%.
All are
Chuck compositions except those marked %, which are by Doug and those marked #,
by yours truly. We are all very excited about how it's sounding and have thrown
in a few extra instruments including strings, brass, organ and pedal steel
guitar, on top of some very thick harmonies, etc. It will be tough to narrow it
down to 12 or 14 tracks and even tougher to pick the next single." So that's all
good news from the ICH recording camp then!
